New 2009 S behind a 2007 S 1/4 mile completly stock
Shit my friend smoke my new corolla 2009 S with her 2007 S. I shift at 5700rpm and i can see her stoplight! My engine not reponse very aggressive just like a lag on a turbo!!! Its normal??? these 2 cars a STOCK and its not the driver i try her 2007S man, and smoke my 2009S man,,,
Any kind of racing is ALL ABOUT THE DRIVER... some people are more gifted when it comes time to knowing when to shift to get the most out of your car. Do you ever wonder why it takes A LOT OF experience and wins to be a profession driver?
i used to go to Cayuga a lot and race, and watch races. and trust me, it is more the driver when cars are prettly closely matched.
I've seen people lose even though their car had more power. you could have 200whp and you still might lose if your reaction time is slow, and you aren't shifting at the right time.
I find it ridiculous when people talk about 'racing' automatics, and more so when its a straight away, starting from a complete stop.
I found that too. Because they think all auto tranny are the same like the ones on the Evo, GTR or the GTI DSG tranny. They don't understand if you launch an economy car auto tranny with runs torque converter will damage the transmission.
anybody look the transmission ratio! i shift around 1.5 sec before him! every shift! my engine run 400 rpm up than her 2007 at 60 mph! my alternator are bigger , 200lbs more and my famous delay , juste like turbo lag! and when i change car with him the result is the 10th generation was behind!!! someone told me the ecu sleep its calibrate to preavent wrong movement... shit i have a oncle car!!!!
if the 10th gen corolla doesnt win in races even for short distances, be happy that you have a vehicle that can take you to point A to point B. other people have to walk from home to a bus stop and wait for their commute. LOL

Lets get something straight, you're not shifting, your automatic transmission is shifting.
Both the 1ZR-FE and the 1ZZ-FE redline at 6250rpm. Since both of you are driving automatics, they have both been programmed to shift at 6000rpm. I know this for a fact as Ive owned both cars at one point or another. The transmission ratios are close enough that it will make a negligible difference in terms of acceleration.
I find it hard to believe your car would shift 1.5 seconds before your friend seeing as how both of you only have 4 gears and a race of this distance means the two of you would be done by the top end of 2nd or midrange of 3rd. There'd only be a maximum of 2 shifts for either person in this race meaning that there's a maximum of a 3 second gap between the two of you assuming that the shifts were the only difference between the two cars, in the 09's favour seeing as how you're shifting earlier.
You're both driving Corolla's, lets face it, neither of them were built solely to perform. If you want something to brag about, compare fuel mileage before and after your race. Then we'll see who comes out on top.

ZenithTheTV... if you were referring from the original poster, it wasnt clear from bus106 if his friend's 2007 S and his 2009 S was an automatic or manual shift car.
