2010 XRS ....Undecided

I know the 2010 model has bigger engine but is the suspension different from yrs past?... What is the general verdit concerning the xrs? I have owned an LE model and presently own a sport model. So now I want to go for the xrs but does the bigger price worth it. Will it be the same to just stay with '10 Sports model and adding a sunroof? And IMHO it would be fun having new corolla thats looks slightly different. Any pros and cons with an XRS?

thanx

Considering the 2010 model carries over essentially unchanged, that goes for the suspension too. The only change is standard stability control. I'll generally compare them, maybe some more members can chime in.

Pros:
-Bigger 2AZ-FE engine
-5-speed automatic (if you choose so)
-4-wheel disc brakes

Cons:
-Less gas mileage
-Not as fast as some other compacts in it's class

with that said, it's ultimately your decision. go test drive it and decide if you want to upgrade or not.

2009/2010 XRS are the same...

The 10th Gen XRS is a little different from the 9th Gen. IF you ever drove a car with "Lift" technology (i.e. VTEC, i-Vtec, VVTL-i etc...) you would miss that glorious feeling. But the LE & S corollas never had it so yes the XRS would be a blast. It has plenty of Torque, and descent Horse Power.

The sport suspension is so-so... Aftermarket Springs are a MUST if you like to take hard corners. OEM parts are very low-grade.

the 2az-fe won't let you down though. Fun to drive, and sounds pretty good from the driver's seat.

The TRAC Control and VSC make winter easy...

Overall the XRS looks better IMO. It has the extra parts that make it look sporty.
4 wheel disc brakes are always key.
OEM Rims are nice... but most people here go aftermarket anyways... (not me)

So buy according to your needs... i'm sure the S model has plenty of Pep. I got the XRS because it was the only one with VSC standard on it and 4 wheel Discs. Optitron Guages are nicer too... that Amber guage look bothered me.

I'd say go XRS... but test drive it. And test drive the Mazda3 GT. Both Cars are in the same class with similar performance... however the new Mazda 3 gets much nicer and newer tech features (HIDs, LEDs, Auto Level Beams, Dual Exhaust, smaller stock Wheel Gaps, better handling...) But ONE UGLY Front end...

you would probably be able to get an XRS for cheaper than a mazda3 though considering if you factor in the factory cash backs from toyota

I didn't think the Canadian-market 2009/2010 XRS got the Optitron gauges. I thought it was only the US-market XRS that got them. Hopefully I'm wrong!

The new Mazda's are very ugly, that "open mouthed smiling" nose has got to be the oddest looking thing since the Pontiac Aztek... way to go Mazda! You went from a decent looking unreliable POS to just a POS all around

Get an XRS or an S, depends if you just want looks or if you would like looks with some get up and go under the hood...

Good to know! So it's definitely different looking than the non-XRS gauge clusters? I thought I read somewhere that Canadian-market XRS' didn't come with Optitron gauges, but I'm glad I'm wrong!

2010 USA "S" models have optitron. 2009 models didn't for the USA, nor did Canada for 2009 or 2010.

The LE and XRS here do have optitron though, as do the XLE and XRS models in the USA.

I highly recommend the XRS... I had mine since November 08 and to be honest its a lot of fun. All my friends like how it looks and the leather and the JBL audio system is pretty good for a small car. Not that it bothers me but overall the car feels good, especially when I step on the gas pedal and yes the mpg area might get you thinking that you should of gotten the smaller engine but hey, cars are ment to be enojoyed and be use every day so the XRS will make you a very happy person. Hope this helps
