Can someone let me know how your 10 th generation corolla drives. I am looking for auto/tran in either an LE or XRS model. I want one that idles and drives smooth. What has been your experience and any disappointments. And will there be any major change in the 2010 model. Thanks!
What you are asking will garner a lot of opinions, niether of which will be suitably explained until you drive one for yourself. I think it is very quiet comfotable on both those points. We appreciate any feedback that you might have.

im pretty sure the 2010 models are the same. my corolla is great, very smooth, and a gas saver. i enjoy it better than my dad's Highlander, which is 10x smoother than our crappy honda. i highly recommend this car to almost anyone. i have had no mechanical problems, and toyota is the best company to deal with as far as reliability and customer service goes. if you are thinking about buying this, i say go for it!

I did read that 9 th generation toyotas 4 cyl engines had a vibration at idle that could also be felt at higher speeds and that Toyota would offer the 2.4L in the XRS to smooth out some however the trade off would be a slight decrease in overall mileage

...i think that's sort of the idea...
Owned my 09 XRS 5M for over a year now and logged over 23,000 kms, although admittedly I have only used it half that time as it was in winter storage from Nov. 1/08 - May 1/09. So far the car has been great! No mechanical issues... it handles well during "spirited" driving, it has plenty of power both on the highway and around town. Brakes have proven to work very well, interior is well laid out and seats are comfy even on a 12 day 3500km trip with 2 adults a 90 pound dog and loads of camping and hiking gear. So far even with a fairly heavy foot the trip computer says fuel economy is 7.6l/100km (30.95 mpg), i have never checked it myself...

hu? an LE is worlds apart from the XRS... dont you mean an S (1.8L) or an xrs (2.4L)...? LE is just an upgraded CE with power windows/lock and some rims... NO BODY KIT

Pulled 340 miles (US) out of my last tank with a lot of spirited driving... No idea how. Brakes are good in panic situations, but are otherwise "meh." 2010 models are same, except for optional leather? Hmm, what else? As it's already been said, the XRS (2.4L) will move you faster and easier than anything else (1.8L).
Difficult to answer the question because the question is very subjective. I think my XRS is plenty fast and very smooth...most of the time although I feel its a bit harsh over a few of the bumps around here.
'09 LE-- Driver's seat is uncomfortable on long trip, difficulty getting used to electronic throttle (at least for me), sometimes the brake pedal feels like it's going to go to the floor but the brakes stop the car OK. Happy with gas mileage-- 38.7 (using a pencil) on the last tank of gas bought on my first trip, that was pretty close to 50% interstate and 50% local highways/roads using Cruise whenever I could.

so the LE is worlds apart form the xrs but the s isnt....because of the plactastic body kit? as far as how it drives (which is what the op is asking), ce, le, s.....they will all essentially drive the same and will all feel equally different from the xrs.
