Canada Trying to keep it between the lines.....

I own a 09 Corolla CE, that I purchased brand new for my wife. It has about 26,000 kms on it now. I do not drive the car very often, due to my line of work. But when I do, I cannot get over how much it wonders at highway speeds. It reminds me of a soap box derby car I built, when I was a kid.

This car is such a challenge to drive in a straight line, I wanna trade it in. This is my first Toyota Btw, I have never had issues like this with any other car.

Is there anything that can be done, about this issue?

My biggest fault I guess, was never taking it on the highway during my test drive. I was fine with it around town.

My wife wants bigger rims and tires on it. Will that decrease the wandering, or make it worse?

I think everyone here has noticed the same thing. You get used to it. I believe it is the electric Power Steering.

Yeah I think it's the EPS...you're probably not used to it yet...I actually still have a hard time getting used to it...depending what rims and tires you get it still won't change anything but it won't make it worse either...

Can I hook up a toggle switch to the dash, and kill the power to the steering just before entering highway? Drive her old school style!!!

This would probibly create some kinda dash light, to come on..lol.

I know this sounds Retarded, but it would work. You don't need power steering on the highway.

What will I get used to, the wandering? I doubt that....

I keep thinking someone behind me will call the cops, for thinking I am a drunk driver, lol.

Take your tire pressure down to 30 psi and see if that helps you any. I lowered my pressure and that helped a lot. Later I went to wider tires and wheels and have no wander whatsoever.

What size rims and tires, did you go with? I am looking at 18's.

yea thats 1 of the 2 thing that bug me about the car is how easy it is to steer. my wife drives the car mostly and she is used to it. i prefer the harder steering, with fluid lol. but i can say i like cruising on the highway with the car nice and smooth don't feel the little bumps. ooh the other thing i dont likeis the clock location
