Years ago my 82 Tercel was stolen with a tow truck out of the parking lot at work! If they want it, they will find a way. All the alarms and steering wheel locks are hoping that the thief will go after an easier target.

Bet that 2010 Rolla was in a marine cargo container within an hour of the rip.

In some ways, aftermarket remote starts do make stealing the car easier. The system has to mimic the chip in the key (some shops bury one of your keys under the dash) and therefore if the thief knows their way around the remote start wiring, then getting the car to start is pretty simple.

There is an anti-theft system built into most remote starters that kills the engine when the brake pedal is depressed. This has to be installed, and is not that tough to work around if you know where relays are buried.

Yes they do but the good thing is if you see them stealing it, you can usually chase them down on foot and make them pull over.
