Well, I test drove a 2010 Corolla S.
It has the XM/JBL/Bluetooth package, along with the Moonroof Package. MSRP on the car is $21,514
The dealer is offering it for $19,500
Turning in a cash for clunker - $4,500
Trading in a 2006 Corolla S with 50k miles for - $9,000
Toyota is offering a $500 rebate
All in all, the remaining balance is $5,500 plus TTL.
Does the dealer price of $19,500 sound about right? It is one of those dealers were they do NOT haggle, as they have set bottom line pricing.
For me, getting $4,500 for the cash for clunker is what is driving this deal. The car I am turning in is worth arond $500-$1,000 on the street.
I believe a Toyota dealers markup is about 10%-11% for lower price cars in normal times. I usually settle for about 8% off but sometimes a little more, so your price looks pretty good to me. There might be dealer incentives that give them the ability for a deep discount, but I don't know. I got about a 9% discount and zero down with 36 month financing at 0% interest in April 08 on an 09 LE and I was happy.
Myself and wife bought our first corolla yesterday and its also our first import vehicle. We are very pleased we grabbed a 2010 corolla S in blue. We didnt get the bluetooth radio option and we also passed on the moonroof.
But got everything else.
We bought the car for 16,300 plus tax,tag,700$ dealer fee wich brought the car to 18,300$ out the door.
If you can get a new car for 5500$ i would do it in a heart beat. While the cash for clunkers deal is still good.
Always take the numbers you have and present them to another dealer before you commit to a car purchase. Let the second dealers know you are shopping on price. Once you get dealerships trying to beat each other on pricing, you can very often knock hundreds more off a car since they know you are serious and looking at multiple places.
I paid $13300 (before tax/$200 doc fee) for my car and helped a friend get a Corolla S with a moonroof for $16328 (also before tax/$200 doc fee) just by making a few calls around to different dealersips. Both of these deals were right around $3000 off the sticker price.
I have to agree...the OTD price is sort of high, but probably is so because of the rebates that the dealer is offering. I think the invoice of a loaded 1834 (auto S model) is around 16,500-17,000 max the last time I checked. If you could get a little more off, I'd jump on it, but paying less than $6,000 for this car out of your pocket is something you can't pass up. The moonroof and JBL are must have options in my book.
I got my 09 XRS 4 months ago for 21,500 - 2000 rebate for 19,500 I'm sure you can find a better deal elsewhere lol
I know the 2009's were being heavily discounted due to the 2010's coming out. I know I can get a lot better deal on a 2009 but I would rather get the 2010.
