Canada TWM performance SS and Bushings

so i decided to give TWM performance a go this time and ordered the short shifter kit including base and shifter cable bushings.(shipping was crazy fast, ordered it on sunday night and received it this morning at my door). i havent installed the shifter yet but i did get around installing the aluminium shifter cable bushings.

so does it make a difference ? yes it does. the shifts are more solid now. there is more feel when rowing thru gears. installtion was quite easy. it was a little hard getting the rubber bushings out, but with a little effort they come off. getting the locking clips back on the aluminum bushings was a chore. you will need to hammer them in place. anyway here are some pics. i will post more later once i've installed the short shifter and the base bushings. its my guess that if you combine just the shifter bushings even with the trd SS it should make a big difference. anyway, we'll see how the TWM one turns out to be.

Will these mods fit a 2010 S? So far the only short shifter kits and bushings that I have found are for the XRS...I would love to have a short shifter and new bushings in my car...it would make my car a lot more fun to drive...

yea bro, i am definitly sure it'll fit the S. cause ur not changing anything in the engine bay , just the cable bushings. i dont know what the shifter cable layout is under the hood for the S but should'nt be that different. and inside the cabin the S and XRS have the same layout for the shifter. here's the link to the site. but i would suggest you just contact TWM regarding any questions you have just to clarify. but i am sure it'll work for the S. relatively inexpensive mod (the bushings atleast).

alrite i am gona go install the shifter, i'll post pics when i am done.

Canada TWM performance short shifter INSTALLED - pics and vid.

so finally done with the installation of the SS along with base aluminium bushings and shifter bushings that i posted pics of earlier. the install was easy and the instructions provided were dead on. i ran into some issues removing the push clip on the side of the shifter assembly. if you take a look at the instructions u'll know what i am takling about. it says you can use a hammer and flat head screw to pry it off but there was no way it was coming off. so i had no choice but to run to home depot and grab a dremel tool. even with that it was tricky to get it off. so if ur gona do it i highly recommend getting that dremel tool. i wasant able to take pictures in between cause of grease all over my hands.

my impressions overall ? its the best mod i've done yet. the shifts are so short, precise and accurate. the new bushings make you feel the revs between shifts onto the shifter knob. overall i am very satisfied with this. the quality of materials was top notch. highly recommend this to all corolla owners

now for those of you thinking " i cant live with the shortened height of the shifter" , well in my opinion its not bad at all. its quite livable. i dont find the reduced height to be an excuse to not get this mod.

i could not combine both videos to make it a before and after one. so just posted individual ones. enjoy.

- stock shifter

- TWM shifter

Very nice.

Jesus, I knew it was long, but second's throw from first looks like your running across country.

I think I'll be looking into this.

just to add my observations, its been working great so far. out of curiosity i put back my stock shift knob (lighter and a tad bit smaller), and for some reason it feels better and easier to shift with it compared to the heavier trd one. the trd one worked great with the stock shifter, but with this twm one, the stock one seems to work better. its easier to find the gates and the rite travel path. plus, the stock one is better for winter as it doesnt get ice cold like the trd CF one.

I got the bushings too. I tried the SS with the standard bushings at first and then I tried with the TWM bushings and it makes a big difference. The shifts feel better and easier to make it seems the shifter always falls right into the gear effortlessly !

EDIT : And I am using the stock shift knob...I don't feel a need to change it
