I guess, it is hard, my experience was very bad , the dealer installed an after market alarm/autostart for me that never worked well, I ended up removing it and I paid $800 for it, my advice is to install a toyota factory alarm

The Factory Keyless system works great, I was talking about the after market alarm that the ignorant dealer charged me $800 for and never installed it correctly

Sounds like the person who did your install was a few eggs short of a dozen.... it always comes down to the installers skill and experience. There are plenty of good aftermarket alarms out there with endless features you can add to customize to your liking.
