More teenagers buying 10th gen Corolla These days!!!
I've seen many teenagers in a Corolla S in Toronto here these days and for the 9th gen I've rarely seen any. Whats makes you buy a Corolla instead of CIVIC/ Mazda3/??

own a mazda before...and the new mazda 3 grill is too funny for me.
Civic: if you are not buying the SI, the regular civic has a rubbish engine which runs with a single overhead cam. Come on man, even my AE86 has twin cams. And that engine has no torque whatsoever.
Corolla: Good on gas, reliable, good engine for a 1.8.
I got mine last year around my 19th birthday. I was upgrading from a 1994 Corolla that had lasted over 10 years, so I know they are good cars and thats what I wanted to get. Theyre so good in fact that I sold the car to my neighbors kid and he is still driving it today. 15 YEARS, OVER 250,000 MILES, AND STILL GOING STRONG.

Yeah the Mazda front ends are awful looking! The cars look like anime characters on crack!
I was 26 when I got my Corolla... but I think the effect is the same amongst the younger generations. It goes like this...the 9th Gen model road high, wasn't much to look at, and was a generally modest (boring ) car. It goes without saying that Corolla's have been excellent reliability wise and are excellent A to B cars. Even the old Corolla S wasn't really that appealing. It was not on my list of cars...
The 10th Gen models are a different story. More contemporary styling able to compete with the Mazda 3 and Civic. It has a more grown up and refined look than the other two cars...but its on a similar level now whereas before it was not even in the runnings. The new 1.8L is a good engine and the 2.4L in the XRS is a real joy to drive in my opinion. The real difference is in whats available...in a Corolla S model you have all of the goods - the steering wheel audio controls, body kit, spoiler, AUX port, sunroof option, etc. Its a much more appealing package to me than it ever was before. Toyota needed this Corolla to appeal more widely than before and I think they have succeeded.
I am 19 and both my parents own Toyota's mom Rav4 and dad Tacoma, so the car that caught my attention from Toyota was the Corolla S because i needed a 4 door car and looks cool. I wanted the Scion but its only 2 door. I rented once a Mazda 6 and it was fun to drive but many friends told me to stay away from Mazda and also because the new Mazda front end smiles. Honda civics I like them but when I went to look at them I did not like the new look for the 4 door civics and the 2 door civic SI where cool but really expensive and I needed a 4 door car. Also I know that when my mom owned a civic, parts and service where really expensive. So that is why I got an amazing 09 white Corolla S.
a brand new car in your teenage years... WOW! McDonald's pays well these days...
my teen years car was a 10+ year old Honda Accord that had more rust then sheet metal
i would suspect more younger gen drivers are interested in the Corolla due to its much more attractive appearance compared to earlier models... lets face it, the last few generations of the Corolla looked like something your would see parked outside an assisted living complex
