Just purchased a completely bone stock 2009 Corolla XRS in Blue. I was just curious as to what websites to go to in order to start changing some things on the car.
So I was just looking for some help to get started in the right direction. I am a big fan of a simple, sleeper looking vehicle on the outside, and basically would like to concentrate a lot of effort in the engine bay as well as the interior of the car.

I welcome all suggestions
Thanks in advance
The first suggestion I would have to be would be to use the search feature. Every one of these questions has been asked many, many times and there are answers and opinions in abundance.
Congratulations on your purchase.

Ebay has people selling the Injen CAI... same with the K&N Typhoon SRI...
Exhaust (Borla just finished designing one, to be released shortly) otherwise you're going custom setup. And as for Headers... I'd suggest buying some xB headers (2008 +)
Otherwise you will have to do retrofits for now via using Scion xB or tC aftermarket parts.
MeganRacing has some coilovers...
trdsparks.com has some ShortShifters, LSD, FSB, RSB etc...
But you're better off searching for Scion xB parts since they are basically the same. Not much love for parts designed specifically for the XRS...
(and what I mean by the same when i say xB, i mean the engine bay is the same... ECU settings might differ a bit)

So a 2008 Scion Xb header would fit on my 2009 1.8L Corolla? Im asking because I am looking for better exhuast flow. Thanks.
I especially like that the scion has the same engine compartment for parts.
So also just to be clear Injen and K&N have yet to actually release there intakes for the 2009 XRS right? They are just selling on e-bay on private sales?

No Injen has released the CAI... if you search the forum you will find the part number
and K&N, they have it listed as a Typhoon SRI/CAI for the Matrix XRS / Scion xB. A few guys here have it installed on their corolla XRS and said it works awsome. here is the link to the 2009 Matrix XRS intake... http://knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?Prod=69-8613TS

Just because the xD has the same engine doesn't mean the parts are the same the intake and exhaust are routed differently. I'd be VERY careful in just going out and buying xD parts for a Corolla.

This isn't the 1.8L guy asking...
the xB has the same engine bay layout as the xrs... Google it.
Only the exhaust is different. After the Headers you will need to go custom exhaust. but the engine bay is identical [or very close that it is hard to tell] between the Corolla XRS / Matrix XRS / Scion xB.
The Scion tC has the different layout.
This guy is looking for xB parts anyways, not xD. He'll be fine with Intakes, Headers, Pulleys, or even the TRD Supercharger or aftermarket Turbos... But like I said... the ECUs might have different settings, so some tuning will be needed. It wont be a simple bolt on with certain items, but some will be.
Will the install of the K&N be difficult or is it a simple bolt up and go. Is there any additional fitting or any modifications? I am thinking not if the engine bays are the same as you have already mentioned.

The K&N is a simple Bolt-On and go. No fitting Mods needed. Just follow the instructions that come with it or that are on the website. SRI intakes are the easiest to install. So no worry about it. As long as you know your way around an engine you're fine. If you can find the old intake and know how to remove it, then you can put the new one in.
If I was going to do anything major at this point to the motor I would go this route since Toyota makes the parts. this would probably be the easiest adaptation but with a LOT of research and footwork.

The Supercharger Route? is that what you're referring to?
xB had a TRD supercharger designed for them. So if you find one then you could install it. But as mentioned in another thread... TRD/Toyota will not be designing anymore superchargers for new cars anytime soon since they lost a lot of money on the 9th Gen corolla and other models. They have also made a limited supply of TRD superchargers for the Scion xB & tC.
As for that model in the article... that has the 2ZZ engine and is closer to the 9th Gen XRS then the 10th Gen...
Depends on how much power you want. if you want a simple sleeper and not a track car, throwing a TRD supercharger from a Scion would give you close to 200hp and 200 ft-lbs, no turbo lag, and that oh so wonderful supercharger whine... but it also costs a few grand. But if you got the money, do that. It won't win at the track all the time, but it will definitely be impressive and a sick sleeper.
So to some everything up engine compartment wise I am looking at getting a K&N filter for the 2009 scion xB which will bolt into my engine compartment no problem just follow the instructions.
And for best bang for a few grand we are looking at a supercharger if I can find it for a 2009 scion xB.
If you guys could let me know I will take the pictures once the mods are done.
Last question it will more than likely take a few weeks to get the parts in when I order them, because the scion not a common car here in canada?
