Okay..I'm sorry if this blog is all about ranting and complaints, but I have just been to the Philippines and I think a lot of you all know about the difference of the available Corollas in different places.
I am a Corolla '09 owner myself, but I just wanted to cry when I saw how better the features are the Corolla Altises have back there. Some of the differences that striked me are:
The Chrome grill - well I think the rolla looks better with those kind of grills and it's so much easier to clean.
The Altis has flasher lights on the side mirrors.
The LED tailights they have as a factory setting on all their trims (The Corolla Altis haas their trims in a different way).
Interior upholstery looks so much better over there.
Sensors. (I dont know how you call it, but It's the thing on the bumpers of the car the circle ones lol)
The fog lights come as a standard feature for all trims except the base trim.
There are quite other more few things I'm sure I missed, but I wish I really had those stuff on my Rolla as a factory setting. I wish I could buy one back there and bring it here, but that idea seems so realistic to do and so pricey..lol.. How come they get the Good Stuff?? Only drawback over there is that the colors are so limited too. I can live with that though as long as they have a black one, or the dark gray, or the silver color available (which they actually have).
The "why" is all marketing. Its positioned a little higher than it is here. If I had to make a guess, I could see the grille coming over in 2012 as a 10.5 refresh for the xle.
However, a little searching and these parts can be yours today! I have the grille and foglights, next will be the tails, but I don't want to spend $300+ for the automatic flip-out side mirrors.
Some choice features that North America doesn't get:
Diesel Engine
6-speed Manual
Paddle Shifters
Headlight Washers
Smart Key System (Canada LE has this)
Power Driver's Seat (Canada LE has this)
Automatic Climate Control System (Canada LE has this)
Headlamp Washers
Automatic Rain-Sensing Windshield Wipers
LED Tail Lights
HID Headlights
Properly fitted Navigation System with Bluetooth
Orange Optitron Gauges with center displays (as shown above)
Side Turn Signals on Mirrors
Backup Sensors
Automatic Parking System (A la Lexus LS460, Gen3 Prius)
Vents above the radio can be closed or opened
Something to consider is that in markets where these options ARE available, the Corolla-sized car is not considered as much of an "economy" car, so the price point is higher, and options are considered normal.
The Corolla in North America is a cheap car, hence many features are dropped.
(There are a good number of options we have that others don't though, so there's that too -- 2.4L engine, cup holders, etc.)
I bought my corolla as an economy car. When I started adding options too the list it quickly became a not so economy car. Therefore I have the stand S model
At the very least, the automatic transmission XRS should have the paddle shifters (and push button start like the LE/XLE has). What a stupid decision by Toyota not to do that.
Call me old fashioned guys, but I just don't like then push button starting. My grandfather and uncle both bought brand new 2010 Prius' the same day I ordered my Corolla S. I have driven my grandfather's Prius and I did not like the push button. I guess I just prefer the key starting...*shrug*

That makes two of us. I like things simple and straightforward.
I don't see the point except for the novelty.

This is a little off topic, but not really (since its a Toyota Site).... one of the best was the "Killing a Toyota" series. Where it took Numerous attemps to destroy a Toyota Truck... and it still runs after the abuse.
I swear its my last youtube post on this 10th Gen sub-Section
[quote=sinnaever;2919131]Reason # 1 Why I do not want a PushButton Start in my car....
Happened to me last winter.
Wife was supposed to go league bowling by herself. As it was raining I decided to drive her so she can be drop off near the entrance and does not have to park. After dropping her off I start to drive away. I notice a warning light came on. I cannot see what it was and decide I'll check on it when I'm home. When I arrived home, switched off the car and tried to re-start to check if the fault light still come on the car does not respond. I then realised I did not have my transponder with me and no house key to go into the house. Had to go to my neighbour to phone my wife and she send her transponder through a friend.
Now I make doubly sure I have my keys on me when I leave home.
