Panel Removal???

I am blacking out my interior and need to know if I can safely remove the front pillars without setting off the airbags, would unplugging the battery work? Thanks.

Yes, it is called Krylon, it is a satin black and I have done most of the the dash already and I am not complaining anytime soon, It doesnt chip and it looks very clean. All I really need to do now is remove the front pillar casing to paint them, too much patience for me to get tap and newspaper in all of the nook and crannies!!!

Whenever doing work with an airbag or anywhere near it, disconnect the negative from your battery.

You can disconnect it if you'd like, but you shouldn't even really be touching the airbag. The cover is in no way attached to the airbag itself.

+1 for Krylon they make a plastic only spray called Fusion that after a 7 day cure will not chip. I have use this for those annoying silver accents on the side of the radio/enviro controls without issue.

What ever paint you use, you might want to consider using a mat clear coat or mat finish. A glossy finish will be very aggravating when the sun comes in.

You might want to base coat black with the Fusion, but use a different brand mat clear when the base coat is cured.

Most Hobby and Joanne Fabric, etc sell mat finish clears that are very good. Just test FIRST on a scrap piece of material to be sure the clear won't lift or curdle the base coat.

I used in this particular application a Flat black. Which is working out really well. Its just a tedious process with all the wet sanding

The only negative to flat black is that gets marks on it very easily. Other than that though.......

Jeff
I was unsure if I had to be careful pulling it off. I didnt want to trigger anything. Thank you.

I'm sorry, but that looks absolutely awful. I'm not going to say anything else, as that will only be mean. But... yikes.
