How much did you pay for your 10,000 mile service?
My "Maintenance Required" Light is now just staying on every time I drive, and I just reached 9,500 miles, so I take it my 10,000 service is coming up. So how much did you pay for your 10,000 service? Is it all necessary, or can I just get my oil changed and it will be fine?
how many miles did you have at your last oil change? i never did a 10k mile service and my maint req light never came on but then i changed my oil every 3-5k....i changed my tranny fluid after 15k but again my maint req light never came on while i kept a regular oil change schedule
that maintenance light is just linked to the interval of when you performed your last oil change (or the last time you reset the light). its not smart enough to tell you when you have other maintenance due.
According to the OM the 10k maintenance is really no different then all the rest.

I work for Toyota and the 10k svc is just an oil change / tire rotation / safety inspection. We get $49.95 at our dealership.
^^$50 is a great deal for that service. Dealers all charge different prices, so shop around. Best way to do so is to do it online, checking each dealer's website for their service coupons. Most dealers will match their competitors.

I think $50 for an oil change is a lot. I get free tire rotations at America's Tire Company, and the inspection is nothing at all.

I do agree $50 is a lot for a 5,000 mile service from a Toyota dealer. But that's the price you pay for factory service. When I had my RAV4 and had a friend who worked at the Toyota dealer, my service was free...of course, I did most of the work myself.

I don't know if my dealer invented the program or it is common but Jim Norton Toyota in Tulsa, OK has what they call engine and tires for life.
They have to do the oil change and tire rotation every 5K. At this time they also do all the recommended checks for the appropriate mileage.
$45.00
pay for an alignment every 15K $60.00
Any internal engine failure is completely covered and they will replace your tires when they wear out. You don't have to have them replace the air and cabin filter stuff. You can do that yourself as well as have any other work done somewhere else. You just have to let them do the oil changes and tire rotation/alignments.
I work for a forklift dealer and we basically have the same type of program.
You pay us x number of dollars per month and we will repair anything that happens.
Just like insurance when you have enough people in the pool you will make money and can afford to take the occasional hit.
