I am at 50,000KM!

I do alot of HWY driving, and was checking to see what kind of tune up I should do, or what I should look at?

16000km Replace Cabin Air Filter

32000km Perform Brake Service, Replace Cabin Filter (Tires should have been rotated by now)

48000km Replace Cabin Filter

64000km Inspect Valve Clearance, Perform Brake Service, Replace Cabin Filter

Its up to you really. But thats what the Dealer Papers suggest.

That's under normal driving conditions though... which is the normal 12,000km per year, if you've only owned the car a year and you already have 50k then you might as well do all.

You may not want to have the brake pads replaced, but you should have them checked out for thickness. I think the safety (mechanical) inspection is about $15-$20 US, or you could do it yourself. We have manditory St. Louis, MO state safety and emissions inspections annually or biannually depending on whether you want to pay for two years now. They check the brake pads then for us as part of a $15 vehicle inspection by a state-certified mechanic. The state safety inspection is a good deal. The state-run emissions inspection was about $25 if I recall correctly.

One thing, both inspections check under the hood for modifications, so I really don't know if you can get engine modifications, such as chopping off the intake hose or a K&N intake kit, thru the inspections. Anybody have any good or bad experience with mods in their state/city where there are safety and emissions inspections? This inspection stuff is in effect because of air pollution ratings for the St. Louis metro area exceeding some air quality standard. If you are living in the country or a small town, you are lucky you don't have to go thru this stuff. I have four cars so I spend about a month getting through this process.

CT has the best emissions / inspection system. Plug in OBD II and providing no codes.. you pass

My lexus IS300 had equal length headers, intake, full exhaust with no cats and a stand alone system. I used an o2 simulator to shut off the CEL for catalyst efficiency and i passed emissions.
