Swapping Engines

i have a 1.8 liter engine in my current corolla S. Here's what i wanna do. I wanna rip out the 1.8 liter engine, and throw in a 2.4 liter XRS engine. does anybody know where i can get the XRS engine with the auto tranny, in the US, and ill do the swapping.

i think it would be cheaper and more reliable if you just traded your car in and upgraded to an xrs.

My point exactly.

Plus, you get the rear disc brakes and upgraded suspension components as well.

So you'd just "throw in" the 2.4 liter motor. You'd also have to change the drive shafts and front brakes and change out the computer, the entire exhaust system, the air intake system, and a whole bunch of plumbing and harnessing.

Like the other guys said, it ain't worth it. I don't think there's enough of a power difference to justify it. You could do some mods and minor building and get it just as quick....... or just buy an XRS.

the initial plan was not speed, it was economy, but then the gas prices went down, so speed became affordable again . . . .

But as everyone else said, the gains simply aren't worth the struggles. I'd rather see you have a custom turbo setup instead of try and transplant a 2.4L. The Corolla simply isn't meant to be a speedy car. You'd be better off trading it in and starting from scratch redoing your fiberglass or whatever.

Well, gas prices are a rollercoaster. Best to have one car for economy and one car for speed .
