Rear Seatback Support Question

I am installing an amp in an 09 Corolla on the back of an rear seats. I was just going to mount it directly with the supplied mounting screws. Is the seat back metal or plastic under the carpet? If metal do I need to put a board in between for amp isolation to prevent electrical noise?

It is a metal structure under the carpet. I mounted my amp to it using self-tapping screws...the main issue I ran into was that the metal is not flat - so it took some time to figure out where to land my screws considering the hole pattern I was working with. In the end, you should be able to do it, but it can be difficult to drive your screws where you want them and also keep your amp straight.

Thanks. Did you have any ground loop issues or is the seatback isolated from the chassis?

I could be wrong, but the material your amp's mounting brackets are screwed into should have no affect on your ground, and just being near metal isn't necessarily bad (think computer case).

Just be sure to pick a solid grounding point for your ground wire!
