Hey guys. Just picked up my 2010 Corolla CE yesterday. Everything is good and I'm enjoying it so far, but I noticed after I got home that the interior painted driver door jambs are very discoloured. They look like they have swirl marks and faded spots. The other 3 doors don't have this. I thought they were just smudges at the dealer so I didn't say anything. It doesn't bother me that much because it's not on the outside. Does anyone know what this might be and what caused it. Thanks.
Post a picture. Maybe try rubbing some laquer thinner on it to see if it is on the paint. If the thinner doesn't do anything try buffing the spots maybe.
Sounds like you have thin paint. The robots clear the paint from the nozzles when painting the previous car if it was a different colour. I assume this is the front door jambs? Where it looks smudged sounds like you are seeing the grey primer under the thin paint. Definately post some pics. If it is thin your better off to live with it and ask the dealer for some perk. To fix it is only asking for bigger issues IMHO.

Did you buy this car brand new?
Laquer thinner will definitely do something. IT WILL TAKE THE PAINT RIGHT OFF.

I'll try and get some pics up. It looks like it is right on the surface. If I feel it it's smooth as if nothing is there, only whitish in colour. If only they would have moved the stickers, tire, airbag etc a little to the left most would be gone, lol. If it was a lighter colour car you wouldn't see it, but dark grey magnifies everything. I'll probably just live with it, it's not cracked or chipped or on the exterior. Can't ever seem to get a car that is perfect.

Laquer thinner will not take dried paint right off. I work in a body shop and use it about everyday. You just cant let it sit on the surface for an amount of time. Also make sure you wipe the surface dry after using it.
I would just take it back to the dealer and tell him this is unacceptable. They can paint the door jamb so you cant notice. I repaired a rust hole in the door jamb of a Camry, and when I sprayed it you couldn't tell it had been re-painted. This was with a brown metallic and metallics are sometimes hard to match.
dont mess with a few days old brand new car. bring it back to the dealer. you are paying/paid for a brand new car and you should not worry about things like that.
Took it back to the dealer and it turned out to be adhesive from the protectant thing they put in the door. They removed it with some cleaner and gave me 2 oil changes, so I couldn't really ask for more.
yes Toyota town. Not my favourite dealer but the only one around here that isn't a dive. How did you know? Do you have experience with them?
Well not myself but a friend of mine just bought a new corolla from them. He took delivery and they must have rushed through the PDI process. The tires were set at all different pressures. 31 through 39 psi. When I adjusted the pressures to Toyota's specs as they were to do the TPMS light was on. Luckily, I knew how to reset the TPMS light to the proper psi. He wasn't happy as they checked off on the PDI sheet they had done that. Also he had to peel plastic off here and there. Small things nonetheless they where all part of the PDI process.
Yeah I had residue in some spots too from the plastic. They had to clean it when I took delivery. I watched them closely. that dealer is as shady as they come but they have a huge business. The other one in London, Competition Toyota is so dirty and small, I couldn't imagine going there. My tire pressures were all off too, the first thing I checked. It all comes down to making the sale and not caring afterward, almost every dealer around.
