A couple months after I got my 09CorollaLE I got sick of finding the trunk ajar and pulled the plug off the lock inside the trunk. Problem solved. But with daylight saving and darker nights it finally dawned on me I had crippled the trunk lite too. I'd like to deactivate the remote open for the trunk. The crude and dirty way might be to cut one of the wires on that plug I disconnected. But without cutting them one by one, I can't figure which one. Or might there be a better was to selectively cripple the remote-open and still leave me an operating trunk light?
Jeff works at toyota. He knows what hes talking about.
The difficult part is not whether if it can be done; it's whether or not a dealer is willing to do it. I've tried 3 and not one is willing to disable my seatbelt chimes or my DRLs.
I don't get this thread anyways. You've got to hold that trunk button on the remote for a few seconds to get the trunk to open.
I've NEVER had the trunk open on me unless I opened the trunk by mistake when I thought I was opening the gas door. Never.
it all depends on how the computer is programmed. the computer has 5 settings for the trunk lid operation. push once, push twice, push and hold for .6 seconds (default), push and hold for 1.6 seconds, and disabled.

The seatbelt thing can be done, but yes you may find trouble getting a dealer to do it, the DRL's on the other hand cannot be disabled via any setting in the programming. You have to actually modify the wiring to disable them.

Who else has a randomly opening trunk that they can prove just opens on it's own? Just curious.
If you've never found your trunk ajar that's a reasonable question. But I have. I carry my ignition key in my left pocket along with a hard plastic hearing aid case. (my right pants pocket has even more pocket litter). PROBABLY that hard case is responsible for the accidental car activations. I've often found the car locked when I thought I'd left it unlocked too. Also one accidental activation of the panic alarm.
But it could also be some neer-do-well's idea of a funny prank. Anyway, that remote trunk release is an item I do not need.
