Where to put subs?

I have a couple of 8" subs I'd like to mount in my '09 LE. I've already put new 6 x 9 JBLs in the rear deck. Has anyone found a good place I could mount the 8" subs? I don't particularly want a sub box in the trunk - they take up more room than I can spare.

are your 8" subs the low profile/shallow kind? if not then the trunk is the only place you can mount those.

No, they're not particularly shallow - probably 6 - 8 inches (they're not in front of me right now). I guess that's too deep for the rear doors?

in the trunk on top of the spare tire? replace that piece of styrofoam that keeps the floor from sinking in.

I hadn't thought of that. I'm a fan of really tight, sharp bass. Do you think that sound will make it through the rear seats?

I believe the Nissan Rogue's sub is mounted this way. Right onto the spare.

Can anyone recommend any good low profile/shallow subs? And if so, where would they fit?

those are the shallow type of subwoofers that would fit in that space and still keep the spare tire in there.

so many brands and types and sizes to choose from. it will just depend on how much you are willing to spend. and i would place them on the sides of the trunk space. could be either on the left or right side or better 1 on each side.

This is where I'm planning on putting one. I'm getting the Elemental Designs SQ10 low profile sub. Trying my hand at fabbing a corner box! Those little corners really aren't that useful anyway!

it is true that those corners could be a good place for shallow subs. plus the common coffin boxes of yesterday just look so ugly and takes so much space.

Google youtube and see how to make custom enclosures. Looks quite simple, but a lot of work.

Thanks for all the help. I'm thinking now about those areas in the trunk on either side. I'll have to see what I can come up with to fit in that space. I appreciate everyone taking the time to share ideas and experience.
