When I first bought my car it had 200 miles on it already, after doing the intake mod where you take out the tubing, the mileage was really shitty, had 22 mpg on a tank. Then I installed my short ram intake hoping that it would fix this. It helped a little bit, but on my last tank i got 24mpg. and this is me trying to drive WELL so that I get good gas mileage. 80% of my driving is done in the city, and 20% in highway. But of the 80% i usually drive at night where there is no traffic so i can go 60+ constantly. Why is my mileage so bad?
Those with intakes what kind of mileage are you getting?

I havent got the SRI but heres some tips to maximize your MPG issue-
- Dont accelerate too fast from stops
- Use cruise control where possible
- Drive at about 50 or less (except on the highway- slow poke lol)
- Dont brake PERIOD (kidding) Just minimize on it.
These however can be contradicting since you have the SRI. More gain in HP for sacrificing MPG maybe?
i dont have a short ram but i'll chime in as well, i've noticed since i put in my cai, i've constantly been punching the gas in 2nd to higher rpms, so my milage is shitty, still not bad, around 8.2 - 8.4L/100kms in city driving, so on a full tank of gas i average around 430 kms before light comes on. i usually used to get 500-540 kms to a tank on city driving if i drive carefully (without the intake). and now its winter, so i dont let my tank below half at any time.
My theory is that since you installed the SRI, you are heavy on the throttle more often to be able to hear the aggressive sound of the intake.
I would say that this mileage range you are experiencing is absolutely normal. It's a trade off.
Had you valued fuel economy in the first place, you should have stuck with a basic drop in TRD or K&N air filter or done without the intake in the first place and leave everything stock.
i've been averaging about 36mpg with my fujita sri. I do about 70 miles a day, mostly highway.
I've been debating about an SRI or CAI but my milage in mixed driving is 36-38 and when I've had mostly hwy on a drive I was around 42 mpg.

yeah you see, that's the kind of mileage I would expect. And if you read my post i said i drove as carefully as i could to obtain good gas mileage. I wasn't like revving it high or anything. Anyone else think my mileage is abnormally low?
I don't really remember actually, but I know my mileage sucked when i did the intake mod on the stock airbox and it was a little better when I got my fujita SRI. Is there anything else that can contribute to my poor mileage? Maybe cuz I'm using 93 octane gas? (I think it feels smoother, so I use it lol) My tires are at 34psi all around.

use regular gas, doesnt make any difference, i think you'll get the best milage on 87 octane, 93 doesnt do shit....it might just do a extra bit of cleaning but then again our cars are new, so really doesnt matter. try 2 fillups of 87 and see what happens.
