Obviously I'm new here and I'm thinking of getting an 2010 corolla xrs. This would be my first toyota as I've been a honda boy since I got my license. My current car is being retarded and just won't start anymore and no one can figure out the problem. So since I work at a dealer I'm considering that. My main concern is with the 2011 models if they will have the 2.5l motors in them. Now I plan to build the car and boost it. So should I wait or go with with the 2.4l as its been around for years so everyone already knows the ins and outs of the motor.
I don't need a review. As I said I work for a toyota dealer so I've driven them.
Fun part is if I get it the only dealer that has it in white with the options I want is in mass. So id get to have a five six hour drive on the way back in my car.

I haven't heard anything about toyota putting the 2.5 in the xrs but if you haven't noticed they replaced the 2.4s with the 2.5 in the camry and rav4. But then again unless they use the camry se version the power won't be different.
I dunno why it won't let me edit my last post but I dunno if any of you have gotten to drive the new se camry but the motor has this certain whine to it that I just love.
How long do you plan to work at this dealer? If I were you, I'd hold out for a FT86 whenever that comes out, but I think you were in need of a car soon.

FT-86 will be badged a subaru when it gets to North America. The 2.5L is in the Rav4's right now, there was a rumour going around saying that they were going to put it into the XRS' after they ran out of 2.4's. I don't know if they're really going to do it or not.

How sure are you that the FT86 wouldn't come here as a Toyota? With the way things are going for the company, you think they wouldn't bring it into their lineup?

They announced at the Japan autoshow... It will be sold in Japan as a Toyota & Subaru...
North America will see it as a Subaru & Scion...
So technically it will be a toyota, but expect to see a Scion tC badge on the car.
About the FT86, there's still speculation going on, but there hasn't been any definite word as to whether it will be badged a Toyota or Scion. Either way, this IS the car everyone is looking forward to.

true...
Now back to the OP...
Go for the XRS... there is no reason why they would put the 2.5L into this Gen's XRS. Most likely a 11th Gen XRS will boast the 2.5L.
the 2AZ is a good engine, and since Scion uses it, there are PLENTY of parts, and as Andy has mentioned before, SCION tC & xB parts will work for this car.
It looks good, and with the right mods, this sucker will have everything but RWD.
