Finally Dropping the 0-60 Hammer in 2010 Corolla S 5 Speed

Car is on FLAT LAND and approaches a slight incline in the road at around 50-55...was barely noticeable for me. This is my first new car and first manual transmission. Still working on launching it, but this was the first day of abuse the car has seen and will see for a while. No one has a manual Corolla 0-60 video up yet so I figured I'd help out people trying to buy them but want to know what it can really do.

Just as I've said before, plenty quick enough when you get on it. It's not made to be a sports car, and for an economy car that gets 35+ mpg it gets up and goes just fine!

Haha at the rate he's driving he's only going to get 25+ MPG

The key is that you don't drive like that all the time, but once in a while it's fun to get on it. It just shows that there is enough power if it's needed.

Would love to see what the XRS really does on 0-60, since my S hit 60 in around 7.5 seconds...maybe 7.0 in the XRS with manual trans!

Creedence FTW.

Oh I highly suggest it. It is a blast.

I do it sometimes when getting on the highway. I floor it going down the on ramp and get up to illegal speeds in no time.
however, when I do it I see big affects on my MPG... but sometimes worth it.

I'm surprised by how fast that is...when I drove the S (with an Auto mind you) I found it a bit sluggish. The XRS is great and I've powered through more than a few on ramps...but I've never truly pushed the pedal all the way and let it loose in sport mode (again I drive an Auto).

Can't make anything out from that video at all. At least mount your cam properly.

Yea it was a pain to get my cell phone to stay in one spot, it was wedged in the dash directly in front of the wheel. I should make a mount (can't justify a car mount for a Corolla, haha) well, maybe....I could document the long journey ahead of me with it....then I'd have to buy a HD video camera. Anyway, getting way off topic.

Also I can't hold the camera and drive at the same time, I'm still perfecting this whole 5 speed thing (which I love). Getting another person in the car to record would slow it down since I'm already 200 lbs.

Get get a small girl (over the age of 18) to record for you. Try and talk her into sitting in your lap to get the best angle.
