Hardwiring a GPS

I just got a brand new tomtom xl one. i realllly would like to hardwire it to where when i turn my car off it goes off and when i turn it on it goes on. im guessing i just get it to the fuse box but where should i run the wire and what parts do i need??

Why not just use the lighter plug? My garmin turns on/off by key with that.

I would put an inline fuse holder and wire it thru the cigarette lighter.
