Error 3 Strikes! Question for those who have been trhough it.

So our 2009 Corolla is not yet 5000 miles old and we have had our first problem: an error 3 failure with the CD player. The dealer has seen the car, ordered the replacement unit and we are scheduled to get it replaced next week. Problem is we still have a couple of CDs in the unit. The service rep says that Toyota will remove the CDs and send us the CDs in the mail.

Is this the normal way of doing things?

It makes sense especially if they have to take the thing apart to get the 6 CD's out. Then again mine is working so perhaps someone else can speak on this issue.

if you can take out the head unit and remove the faceplate maybe just maybe you can find the end part of the mechanism that lets you manually eject CDs.

This same thing happened to my folks CD player several years ago and the same thing happened. The CD player was sent in and they received the stuck CD's several weeks later.

This is one advantage to using an iPod!

I had this happen to me in another vehicle. What worked for me to remove the cd's stuck inside was to start to load another cd in that slot and as its starting to grab it pull that one out and then try to eject the original cd.

Well, the unit has been replaced and they pronised the CDs by mail in 21 working days. They also replaced the brake vacuum thingy under a recall. Thanks for the responses.

So did you add an iPod interface when they replaced the cd player?

I have the aux input also, I just like having the iPod adapter as it charges the iPod, I can keep all of the cables & iPod hidden & I can control the iPod through the HU, much simpler. I didn't realize that you had an aux input either since you never said anything about using an iPod, just that CD's got stuck, sorry!
