Question about Toyota Canada Lease turn in

Hey guys. A friend of mine is looking at leasing a new Venza. I've never leased a Toyota, just a couple Fords. Years ago Ford's lease turn in was pretty simple and they weren't fussy. You basically had to trash your car to be charged wear and tear. Does anyone know what Toyota is like at Lease turn in time? Do they fine tooth comb the car, dents and scratches etc. I can't seem to find a lease turn in guide for their cars at all on the internet. If anyone knows anything about their leases I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Best person to ask is the guy at the dealer who is in charge of lease returns. I worked temporarily for Toyota a while ago processing lease returns. Basically, the dealer is the one that will do the inspection, and is in control of the paperwork. It shouldn't be any different from the way Ford and other companies do their lease returns as well. If you were over your mileage by just a little, they would waive those charges (the finance company, not the dealer).

I'm supposed to be returning my Matix next year and had it inspected by the dealer where I bought it from last month with an estimate of C$250 for dents and sratches if they do it (or their choice painter). I did this because I had no reliable source of info just like you on lease returns. You can have it done by a shop you know but it might cost you more as I have asked some shops. There are no mechanical issues with the car and maintenance has been with Toyota. Tires are still ok after 80K+ Kms having winter tires. I have not signified my intention to lease or buy from them that time.
The thing here though is that I opted to lease another Toyota taking advantage of their program to be able to return your lease early without penalty and that my first payment on the new lease is free.
So i'll be getting an XRS in a few days and return the old trix without paying for the paintjob. So, have them assess the car before the return. Some dealers may be as forgiving as others.
