Dealership problem

Hey guys,

I need your input on this situation :

2010 Corolla S bought in August and qualified for Toyota Graduate Program rebate 500$.

Dealership called yesterday saying a mistake had been made because the 500$ rebate was initially deducted from the source and appears on the invoice as ''MFG rebate'' - 500$

Problem is : Toyota Canada sent a mail in rebate 1 month after purschase of 500$ which the dealership says should have been sent to them instead of to client.

My opinion :
MFG Rebate on the invoice does not indicate Graduate Rebate...
If a mistake has been made as they say, it is their problem not mine ! The car was purchased 5 months ago !

What do you think ?!

Canada

We need a bit more info.

Did you end up getting more than $1000 off if you count up all your rebates to date? If you got more than $1000 then the dealership has a concern. But.....

Toyota Canada is a pretty organized company and wouldn't usually mess something like the address of where a cheque goes client/dealership, pretty hard to get confused. Looks like the dealership is looking for a $500 Christmas bonus. 5 months ago, its already spent, I would say its yours.

The only rebate on my invoice is :

MFG Rebate -500$

The dealership guy who called me said they deducted the 500$ from the source thinking Toyota Canada was going to send the mail in rebate to the dealership and not to the client...

Five months ago I would say that it is yours. Tell the dealer that the rebate form was sent to you and its yours.

I would keep the money but go to a different dealer for servicing so they can't hold your car hostage untill you pay up.

If the dealerhsip gives you anymore trouble, tell them you are going to call Toyota and get it squared away.

Toyota Dealers do not like for you to call Corporate and they will usally back off any thing like that and they will take care of problems with the car that they wouldn't do before you mention Calling Toyota.
