Canada Electronic rustproofing

Just got a 2010 Corolla & they dealer tried to sell us on the rustproofing. Now, I didn't bother because, from what I have read, there is unlimited km corrosion protection on the 2010's. Also, it is electronic rustproofing where they attach a gadget to the vehicle & it used electromagnetic forces or something. Sounded hokey to me & not really worth over $600. Has anyone tried it?

Its not electromagnetic forces haha, its referred to as cathodic protection. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cathodic_protection They do it on boats, and other steel structures usually where they attach a piece of metal that is more prone to "rusting" than the aluminum or steel in the vehicle and it oxidizes rather than your car.

It does work, but you were right to refuse it because of the reason you stated.

Thought I might help shed the light on the subject for you.
