Am I the only dummy that has driven their 2009 S for

30, 087 miles or 9 and a half months before they found out there is another power access point in the console box?

It is for my ipod now.

It took me a week before I found the ashtray looking compartment on the left side of the steering wheel.

Please don't tell me that two power access points in a car was a determining factory of you buying it.

I mean shit, It is the first car I have been in newer than 10 years old that didn't have a dedicated clock.

I found that right away and have always used it for my cell phone. I also ran my iPod interface cable to the center console but since that also charges I don't have to run a power cable also.

tomato ,tomatoe

Console , armrest.

Start at the gearshift go straight back from there about a foot and the first thing with a lid on it. Pull the lid open, look down in there and there is a power access point.

Hmm, that might be a good place to store a portable gps and keep it plugged in constantly so you don't wear out the connector with frequent plugging and unplugging. Garmin brand units power on and off automatically if the power port goes on and off with the ignition.

The only questions are, is there space to close the armrest lid without pinching the cable and where can you mount the gps once you pull it out of the compartment using mounting hardware compact enough to fit under the armrest? I wonder if a cupholder mount like this could fit without disassembly?

If there was a good spot to use Velcro in a Corolla, you could do this:

but I can't see any workable spot to on the Corolla.

There is a factory notch coming out of there just for that purpose.

I always assumed it was so I could leave teh aux input ipod cable plugged up and hide my ipod in the console/armrest.

That would kind of work, but the cable showing left in the aux jack would be a smash and grab invitation for those looking to steal an iPod.
