rough idle at operating temperature

After getting the brake recall done, I've noticed that once my automatic transmission 2009 Corolla CE is up to full operating temperature (about 8km of city driving) and just as I come to a stop, the engine chugs a bit because the rpms go below 600. This only happens when the car is at operating temperature and in negative zero degrees celcius temperature here in Toronto.

When the car is "not" at full operating temperature in the winter the car idles around 950rpm when the car is fully stopped, so there are no chugging issues.

When the car is "at" full operating temperature and I brake bringing the car to a stop, the rpms go down to 600rpm, then for just a split second the rpms falls to around 500rpm and the car shakes a bit, but quickly recovers back to the 600rpm range and the car stops shaking. This happens just as the car comes to a complete stop.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Do you have your a/c on or rear window defogger? That can cause it to bounce the rpms a bit.

Or when you set the mode to windshield defrost and foot, Air-con is running even when the indicator light is not lit.

Really?? I've never noticed the A/C on unless it is turned on by activating the A/C switch, & that is true on every Toyota I've ever owned. Granted, the defrost works better with the A/C turned on since it dries the air & takes the moisture out of the air better.

Had this issue on my 02 Corolla. Whenever I would be at a stop light, sometimes it would randomly dip to about 600 RPM's and my lights would start to dim, I would have to put it in neutral and give it gas, otherwise it would die.

Turned out to be my mass airflow sensor was bad.

Just a suggestion though. I would take it into the dealership either way, since its under warranty

My dad's 2001 Nissan Altima is having the same trouble. My mechanic replaced the catalytic converter and oxygen sensors upstream and downstream (all genuine Nissan parts) but after a month the problem still exists.

So are you guys saying your idle stays in one spot and does not drop,or go up at all?.
I've had my 2010 for 2 mos and the idle has not stayed in one spot at a light for more than 30 sec..
If this isn't normal I'll take it in for a check up.
In another thread others posted 600-900 is normal idle. Most of my other cars have just idled at one speed.

My idle is pretty constant, but is temperature dependant. Low 600 when at operating temperature. High 900 when cold. It doesn't move all over the place.
