A-Pillar Gauge Mount

Has anyone found a gauge mount for the A-pillar for the 10th Gen Corolla? I was thinking of installing a dual gauge 2 1/16" A-pillar mount if I could find one that fits. I've looked around but it's hard to say if a universal one would fit without having one to try.

I was under the impression that an A pillar gauge mount would be impossible because of the curtain airbags.

Am I mistaken?

Oh crap!

Good point, I had forgotten about the air bags!

its possible but A. you wouldn't want to puncture the airbag during the pod installation. B. thats just one more then to fly at you/get in the way when the airbag deploys.

what gauges are you trying to install?

You don't want a gauge in the eye if you are ever in an accident either. At least I don't.

I was thinking of getting a Scan gage and use a blend mount on it.

I found that VDO makes a clock!

So that would be one and the other was optional, maybe an oil temp or an outside temp so I could just leave the dash gauge alone on another setting like ave mpg. I find if I leave it on ave mpg I get better mileage.

I found a 2 gauge dash mount that could work great just above the center vents. If I could blend it in so it looked factory it could be a winner.

I never even thought about the air bags in the A-pillar, that's not even an option with them located there.

Yeah I was looking into them a while back when I was considering modding up the engine like andy did with his and I was used to having A Pillar boost gauges in our old cars and the first thing I ran into were the curtain airbags. I didn't want to sacrifice any safety for a set of gauges that I could put elsewhere. Of course you could spend money and then custom fit them but that was just too much work for me.

The other option that I came across were center dash mount gauges. Kind of like the 350z. Right above our vents. I dunno if that's your fancy or not though.

Yeah, that's what I found while looking online, the gauge holder to sit above the center vents. If I could cover it to match the dash it could blend in & look factory.

I was just looking around and I saw these 2 and 3 gauge pods that might save time in fabricating a dash-vent-cover gauge installation. They are standard 2 1/16" gauge mounts. The referenced site also sells interior color spray cans. I have also seen smaller gauges than 2 1/16" somewhere if you want to look for them.

If you do the extra gauges installation, please post photos and mod procedures. I think it could be cool.

Also, if someone is into high perforance mods, I saw this interesting gauge lineup that measures all kinds of performance parameters. Some have a yellow lcd display that would look good with the stock gauges, especially at night.
