flashing maintenance required

Is it normal for the maintenance required light to flash for 30 seconds or so after the car has started? I know that it does flash when you first start the car but I've noticed it flashing for a longer period. It does eventually turn off though. Also, I've noticed that it came on once when i was in reverse.

Your probably close to the 5000 miles after the last time the light was set. Reset it by switching it to trip A, holding the stick in, turn the car off, turn it to accessory mode and you will see bars on the dash fill up and the trip a will zero out. Then let go and your light is off. You might have to have it on odometer instead of trip A.

Although he is right, i wouldn't do that unless youve already changed your oil for the past 5000miles. the light flashes about 200miles before you actually need an oil change.

i havent seen it flash before. my 10 xrs light came on at 5k miles. as for reset, you just need to be on trip-A, turn key off, then hold odo stick down (in) and then turn key on (no need to start), hold until light goes out.

it should flash for 5-10secs at startup then go away 200-300miles before oil change and should be solid ever 5000miles.
