Since I had my trunk empty while I was installing my TRD springs I went a head at put in Dynamat Extreme throughout the trunk. I had already installed the panels when I thought about taking a picture. I still need to do the trunk lid, hood, and doors. I can tell you though that my JBL rear deck speakers, which act as woofers for the bass, sound better already!

i got a paint/rub issue with the cover, it used up the paint on left side and it had a naked spot right on metal, 10k kms, kinda sucks on a new car.
It helps to control noise & improve speaker/stereo sound. I put it all over the trunk & the rear fenders are so solid sounding vs a tinny sound before. More like a Lexus than a Corolla!
I've had it on several other cars & I've always liked the results. Even my old 82 Tercel sounded like a Bentley when you closed the doors after Dynamat was installed!

Just in case anyone is thinking about wrapping their cars in dynamat, it is expensive.
...but well worth it if you get a good price either through eBay or Amazon.

how much dynamat required? are you going to do doors, floor? was thinking of undercoating but not sure of results and didnt want to plug any drain holes, etc....how noticable doing just trunk from roadnoise at say +130kph or +75mph or so?
So if I wanted something to put in the doors & trunk to lower the audio levels OUTSIDE the car, is Dynamat/Second Skin the way to go?
when you say lower the audio levels I am assuming you mean you want your music to be louder and to hear less road noise correct?
If that is so the mat is only killing the vibrations it is not actually killing the noise from the road. It is lowering the panel resonance by making a ting ting sound like a thump thump sound. It makes it where you dont lose as much vibration.
While it does kill some road noise it does not kill alot of it.
Understand this you would want to mat with second skin or dynatmat I would just recommend second skin I was also using dynamat before I went to ss and it is a difference in quality and size for the price.
You then would want to use a barrier after you mat like over kill pro or if you really trying to kill sound get luxury liner pro.
The stuff is not cheap but it does work. Make sure if you put anything in your doors that you call and ask at second skin the guy is the owner who is very helpful and always will be honest and answer your question plus there is also a second skin forum as well which has plenty of info on what you want I would suggest going to the second skin website. Then to the forums. The second skin website has many install videos for you to watch to know what your doing.

No, when I say outside I mean if you were literally standing outside the car. Say you're sitting in a parking lot waiting on somebody or something of the sort... people outside the car can hear the radio almost as well as I can. 0.o

Well assuming that this stuff is suppose to keep the music in the car and make it sound louder then I would safely assume that you would not hear it as loud outside of the car after doing all of this. I mean why are you wanting to listen to your music outside of the car when the door is closed?

I'm not, but it's really not fun having to worry about old people and the such getting angry when you just want to hear some music, if you know what I mean... >.<

I bought a box of 36 sq ft and a 2 door kit. I'll see what that covers & if I need more than I'll get more. I plan on finishing the trunk, all 4 doors, hood and the floor boards at some point. I've completely done several other cars & the Dynamat has made a huge difference in the noise level inside the car & improves the stereo sound 10 fold. As far as drain holes, I just cut a hole in the Dynamat where the drain hole is. I did that underneath the spare tire too. I notice the difference in the noise & rear speaker performance already with just the trunk being lined.

I dynamated my trunk, decklid, rear pillars, rear packing shelf on top, bottom, and in the pockets, and the metal I could get to on the fenders while I had my rear interior / trunk torn apart installing my system. Now my system sounds 2x louder.
According to the local place where I got it who is also a good friend of mine, and what I read online. The Dynamat didn't necessarily have to cover everything. You just want to cover the majority of the flat spots in the metal and anywhere else it would resonate.
