tired of looking at fuel economy info under wrong title. these are fricken corolla's. they all get excellent fuel economy. unless serious engine mods and/or hard driving. but still relatively good fuel econ. usually any major discrepencies with broken in, un problematic car
is due to operator math errors. it is a non issue in these cars and to not think so is really looking for something to argue over.
Considering all the safety gear that these modern cars have to load on (several airbags, ABS, re-engineered crash zones etc) mandated by government standards, these cars really do get Great fuel economy.
In any kind of accident with the newer cars, the older cars would kill the or at least seriously and/or permanently maim the occupant(s).

Its a different car, but you get the idea...

Good to see a positive spin on our Corollas instead of negative.

for the canadians here what do you average per tank city driving and what does trip A and trip B mean? (yes i never opened the manual)
also has anyone had their distance remaining read below 30km? the car said 32km to go but the next day when i turned on the car it said 0km remaining and wouldnt change. makes me question the accuracy of the computer.

dude, there ain't nothing wrong with the fuel economy for 10th gen corolla's. or any corolla. it is one reason corolla's are what they are. lowest operating costs. period. it's not the car, unless faulty, of course. all computers do this to some extent and the corolla does NOT do it anymore than any other car. gas gauge should not bounce up and down and it doesn't on corolla's. i've driven every year corolla since 1980 and none do this. in fact, no toyota gas gauge does this. worrying, complaining, or making an issue about fuel economy on any toyota is just silly talk.

Give the man a break.... I don't think he's worrying, complaining, or making an issue about fuel economy. Heck, he didn't even talk about fuel economy.... he's only stating that he questions the accuracy of the distance-remaining calculator.

more or less. i just want to know how accurate that thing is so i dont end up pushing one of these times. i just thought it was odd to go from 30km to zero by only sitting overnight. and what does trip A, trip B mean?
I have no beef with my 09 Corolla's MPG...get about 25 city (lots of lights) winter blend gas,and about 38 hwy (lots of hills too).
Bottom line...I was almost ready to trade it since we have had such a rotten snowy winter for another AWD, but I guess Logic prevailed and I am keeping it (have had no problems with having trac and vsc....so far)..
ANYWAY GAS HAS NOW HIT $3.00 USD PER GAL AND RISING FAST...here in Nevada.
Those with the MIGHTY awd and 4x4's are beginning to show signs of stress once again!

I use trip A for miles on a tank of gas & I reset it every fill-up. I use trip B for oil changes & I reset it at every oil change. Trip B could also be used for something like keeping track of total miles on a vacation that would have many fill-ups. I just wish that the odometer & tripmeter had separate readouts.

And of course...it's winter...and fuel economy for every type of vehicle get's hosed thanks to ECU's that run rich to warm up the engine (that and the arsehats that warm up their cars in the driveway for more than 1-2 min - totally unecessary).
My XRS mileage/tank drops by 30-40km in the winter - partly due to winter tires and cold starts. But then I'm not known for doing 86kph on the highway either...LOL
I drive mostly 75 mph on the highway and mostly highway driving during the week, and I am averaging 33 mpg, but a little less now in the winter. I was a little surprised that driving 75 would reduce the mileage so much. I almost feel if they could have geared the RPM's down a little more at that speed, it would get better fuel economy for those of us that drive a little faster.
In any event, it is still double what I was getting with my Tundra, and better than I would probably get with most cars, so I am happy for now.
