I just took my 09 Corolla in for 15,000 mile service. When I got the car back the radio had been changed from CD to an FM radio station. I was kinda pissed off but I let it slide. If I had had the amps hooked up I can see some unknowing technician turning it up and blowing some speakers. I decided if I take the car in for servicing in the future I am going to take the time to remove a fuse or two to prevent technicians monkeying around with my audio system. What are your feelings about technicians monkeying around with your audio system. Fair game or over the line?

To me....I will just let it go. If you are really concern about things like that, service your own car. There are just too much stuff to worry about, even if you don't have the sound system, maybe you will start to worry about the service people take it for a quick spin and redline every single shift, or if they see you have an intake, they will rev it up and check out the sound that it made....haha. It all comes down to how well you trust that specific service dealer and their code of ethics.
But one thing that I do everytime when I took my car to service: remove all valuable items in the car.
You can blow a stock speaker just as easy as an amp. There is a chance they are supposed to check radio functionality, doubt it though. I personally would not loose any sleep over it. If you don't trust your tech, there are much more severe things to worry about.

just shut the radio off next time around you go for service; if something happens to the radio during that time, then they'd be liable.
The radio was off when I dropped it off at the Toyota dealer and it was off when I got it back. The change from CD setting to FM setting during service is what indicated the technician was messing with it.
I don't know how you would prove a technician messed up your audio system because the dealer would just claim you brought the car in with the damage and it would be hard to factually prove otherwise. Because of this, Toyota should have a policy against technicians messing with the audio system if it is not requested on the service order.
In any event I am going to play it safe and remove some fuses before maintenance work.

I have to take pictures of the car and right down the numbers on the trip and odometer, and let them know I did.
Once I took my dads car into get a tuneup, about an hour later about 10 miles from the shop I saw my dads car with the mechanic and shop owner hauling ass going though a red light, then a friend also saw the car in a different city the same day (about 25 miles away)
Then again I am in Mexico and that shit happened lots here.

My dealer actually turns my radio down, and I have a whole system installed (hu, sub, amp, etc.). I usually try to turn on some good tunes when I go in, but I guess they don't like my taste in music lol.

Do you leave it "bumpin" in the service driveway when you bring it in?
I saw that happen at my dealer one time. I told the dude I wasn't impressed.

Right now there is a big hole where my stereo once was. No one will be hitting buttons in my car! mwah... mwahahaha. mwahahahahaha.
Seriously though, why worry about it? I agree, if you are that particular, you should be servicing your own car. Probably minor things that you would take major issue with happening all the time if you are stressing over your radio.
There was probably 3 or 4 different people that were in your car.
The shagger
The tech
The shagger that brought it back.
Maybe someone else?
Any chance they may have hit the wrong button trying to turn it off.
I have done that once or twice in my life.
Next time you should definately take pictures of your dash and radio and print them. Then have the service writer sign them for verification and lay them in the seat.
Pull a few hairs out of your head and lay them across the window switches as well.
That way you can tell if they rolled the window down or not.
