Im strongly considering purchasing a corolla xrs havent decided if it will be a used or new depending what type of military discounts toyota is offering. I know the color i want(blue) just had a couple of questions about a few things.
1)Is it worth getting one with GPS?
2)All of my cars ive eventually installed after market HU and some kind of system, is it possible to connect couple of amps to the factory HU if it has the GPS?
3)I would also like to change the wheels out prob some 17's, any wheels out there that offer a deep lip for these cars?
4)Has anyone made a turbo kit for the XRS yet?
5)Are there any plans for bigger eng? Id hate to purchase one just for toyota to come out with a better eng with in a year or so.
Im headed over seas in a week and will be back in aug so i have plenty of time to think about which route im going to go with this but i figured id start asking now.

1.-Not if your planning on upgrading your HU
2.-Yes but the sound quality will not match an aftermarket HU
3.-Dunno
4.-Dunno
5.-Not that I am aware of

I have a 2010 XRS in black with leather. I live in Canada so the packages are a little different, but I think I can answer your questions.
1)Not in my opinion
2)If you like aftermarket you can get better for less money than the factory Toyota. I would get a pioneer or kenwood screen instead.
3)I am not wheel expert but there is a whole rim thread on this forum
4)Yes! AndyXRS on this forum. Search turbo and you will find it. Something like 300HP!
5)The Rav4 and Camry now use a 2.5L while the XRS, Matrix, and Prius still use the 2.4L. I think in a few years they might put the 2.5 in the XRS, 179HP and better fuel economy.
I really like this car and I would recommend you purchase one. The blue is a nice colour as well!

3) Corollas have a 5x100 bolt pattern, you should be able to find something you like.
4) Andy is the only one I am aware of who is boosting. However, this is nowhere near a "kit". If you know a lot about forced induction, and know of someone who would be able to tune it, you might be okay.
In terms of GPS system, I wouldn't go for the factory one. Eonon made a way better headunit, for details, do a search on the forum or go to this link : http://eonon.com/Special-Car-DVD-Player/E1055.html
There isn't any turbo kit made for our car yet, so custom turbo is the only way.
Engine wise, Toyota will never put anything like a V6 on a corolla, 4 cylinder is always the choice. Looking at their lineup, maybe 2.5L is the next in line for next gen XRS, personally I don't think they will consider putting the 4 cylinder 2.7L from the Venza. (Hopefully they are able to bring back the VVTL-i, without it the XRS is never perfect.)
yea i know couple of people that are turbo knowledgable and fabricators but that route would be kind of expensive, besides this would be my new daily driver so i need all the fuel economy i can get out this car.
Checked out the wheels thread didnt really see any deep lip wheels so guess ill just have to keep looking. Looks like ill be going with out the factory GPS. Seen a popular mod with these cars is lowering them whats are the differences and or advantages of a coil over versus a drop spring?

On a front wheel drive car, you won't really see a very deep lip.
Lowering springs can be installed with stock struts, lowering springs will lower the center gravity of the car, and the lowering springs are usually stiffer, so it will enhance the handling of the car. The other purpose for lowering springs is for the look.
Coilovers are more performance focus, most of the coilovers are adjustable, user can adjust area like the ride height, damper rate....etc.

Than look at the "S" vs the "XRS" if mpg are that important!

There's a TRD supercharger available for Scion tC which has the same 2AZ-FE engine as the XRS. I've read someone talking about it and saying there's some minor mod needed to make it fit on XRS engine.
1AR-FE is another 2.5L eng with 179hp output. Toyota should use it in the 11th gen.

If you're coming back in August, maybe you should wait for the 2011 models. However, there's no telling if Toyota will put the 1AR-FE in the XRS by that time. For most Toyotas, newer engines go into existing vehicles during their midcycle refresh, which for the Corolla wouldn't be until 2012.

yea i did but i would prefer the bigger engine. I know the S would be the best choice as far as MPG goes but also looking at peformance. As long as i can get about the same as im getting with my paseo ill be fine, besides anythings better than what im getting with my Grand National

Have you considered a Camry with 268hp V6? It gets 19/28 mpg compared to 21/30 mpg of XRS. Putting a turbo will kill your XRS mpg anyway.
