Hello, my name is Jerrod. I am new to this site, but I drive a 2010 toyota corolla sport 1.8L... I also have a 1980 corolla sr5.. my question is as follows...
How hard would it be to convert my 2010 to awd? I was thinking I could find a wrecked matrix awd with the 2.4 I think and swap in the engine and trans with out much trouble since the xrs comes with the same engine.. also alot of the suspension components and interchangeable between the matrix and the corolla from what I am told,if anyone has any ideas please hit me up...
I don't think it would be worth IMO. The Matrix doesn't have a "True" AWD system. It is a part time system, nothing like a Quattro or Subaru style AWD.
So IMO i'd say don't waste your money. Save up and wait for a better upgrade. I'd rather spend money on a used Subaru Impreza if I wanted AWD.

Why deal with the time, cost & hassle of this mod? Enjoy your Corolla S for what it is & save your money for an AWD car that is made that way from the factory.

maybe the original poster likes the form factor and interiors of the 10th gen corolla. in his true liking of the 10th gen corolla... he wanted to make it a bit better by modifying it to his liking. there maybe TRUE all wheel drives out there like the subaru impreza but the original poster finds the subaru a poorly designed car in form and interiors. maybe the original poster has money to spend on the such an expensive modification. if u ask me i can see where he is coming from. i just love my 10th gen corolla.

yeah... and all we are saying is...
BUY A REAL AWD
"maybe" it is NOT worth it. Save your money and buy a USED WRX or something.
How hard would it be? Plenty. There are different rear member underbody components that have mounting points for the 4WD components, so it wouldn't be an easy bolt-on conversion. If you have the funds to buy a wrecked Matrix donor car and the mechanical expertise to do an engine and tranny swap, you probably have the mechanical aptitude to do it.
But unless your 2010 Corolla is a hobby or toy car, it's a fool's journey that will devalue your car. There's no doubt that it would be unique though.
ya I agree I the 10th gen is probably the best looking design and feel since the 1980s... I love my corolla just was looking to do something unique and not thought of before... And as I said before I also have a 1980 corolla sr5.. so both are awsome cars just I like to be unique.. I am not selling either for a long time. Also I dont need to take the car to someone and have them do it costing me tons of cash. Was just looking for your opinions and I appreciate all the responses I got back from this post.. thanks alot
