Best Place to Mount Ballast

Hey Guys,
I am thinking about getting my HID Projector Retrofit done soon, and I was wondering where the guys who have HIDs put their Ballasts? Did you mount them with screws, brackets or Tie-Straps.

I looked at the engine bay and wondered where the most secure place to put them would be.

I check the forum and there was only one guy who showed where he mounted his Ballasts, and they were behind the bumper on the lower part of the frame, but I was hoping to put them somewhere where I didn't have to take off my bumper.

thats where I have mine also. i used the existing bolts and holes that were there originally.

what's wrong with removing the bumper?? the headlights won't come out unless the bumper is removed anyways.

i would put it near the headlight or even right under it. what kind of retros did you choose? im still looking for a person to do my retros, i have TL projectors, wanted to do a quad, but realizing its too big for the housing of the headlight. So im stuck at one. anyone one here with special unique skills? thanks in advance!

I've been thinking about doing Lexus Projectors from the LS/RX/IS... which ever one I can get for the best price and fit the best. I like the lexus cut-off.

I'll take a look at the engine bay again and see where they will fit best. I'm not getting Slim Ballasts, so There needs to be enough space.

Cost...

The price difference on Phillips Ballasts is STUPID...
The Slims are like $100 more expensive. Same output, just a smaller Ballast

I'll probably be mounting mine where everyone else did theirs. It won't be in the way to change bulbs and will also be better protected.

If you can fit in LS projectors that'll be really sweet but after that if you're going bi-xenon I'd get the TLs or FX projectors. If you're going single the s2k or tsx would be nice.

Are you going to be doing the retro yourself or getting someone else to do it?

Someone else most likely. And TSX is my other option.

But i'm waiting to get feedback and see the guy's portfolio before I give him my headlights. If he does botch jobs then I wont, but if his clients are pleased and the workmanship is top notch then I will give a green light.

I'm in no rush to get it done, I was just curious about Ballast mounting in the engine bay.

What's the specifics about Phillips? (just wondering) - to me they all seem like the same HID kits w/ a different brand name, and the ddm has a lifetime warranty on them.

Yeah I just had a ballast go out on me. Sent it to DDM, and they sent back a new one no prob! I really like DDM; for $70 you get a slim ballast and a lifetime warranty! Phillips can't beat that...

Exactly. But hey, to each their own. I'm sure there's a good reason though.
