I am trying to buy an XRS but Toyota is having a hard time getting it to me.
Saturday 17th, Deposit money ($50,000 pesos [$4,000.00 USD]), manager says I need to deposit more money (bigger down payment needed apparently, a set back but not a big deal) The XRS on the lot just sold (someguy next to me signing the actual papers) unlucky for me as the XRS has been on thier lot for over 6 months, the car gets here in a about 4-5days tops, the manager kept saying how fast the car can get here even if they have to ship it from mexico city (pretty damn far away from Cabo San Lucas) (initial deposit starts getting the car shipped), Told him, as long as the car gets here in a week as thats how long it will take me to make the other deposit. Saturday 24th, Deposited remaining money ($17,000 pesos [$1,360.00 USD]) car is not here yet should be in any day now tops Tuesday they say Monday 25th I called in for an update, No car yet, they say the haven't even shipped it yet. WTF m8!, but they assured me the shipping starts today and the car will be here no later then Thursday, (its being shipped from Mazatlan, which shouldn't take more then 24 hours to get here as its under 200 miles away) Thursday 28th, Call in to see what time I can go pick up the car, no deal car is not here yet, they say it should show up any moment now, tonight or tomorrow morning. Friday 29th, Call to see if the car is ready, car is still not here yet, once again they say it should show up any moment now, tonight or tomorrow morning 100% sure that by Saturday morning its there. Saturday 30th, Call in about midday, once again no car, and because the mechanics leave after 2 even if the car would show up today (which they say it will) there is no one to give the car a clean bill of health also, the mechanics don't work on Sunday and Monday is a holiday, so everything is pushed until Tuesday. Sunday 31st, Just want to confirm the car is at the lot even thought I canīt pick it up, well as you guess by now the car is not there yet but that everything will be ready by Tuesday anyways. (assuming the car shows up on Monday) Monday 1st, Call in the morning, manager picks up he tells me he finds it odd the car hasn't showed up yet and blames the shippers and once again promises the car in by today (this is the first time I have talked to the manager since Saturday the 17th)
Call in the evening and one of the sellers I haven't talked to yet and tells me the manager told him in the morning that the cars (he shipped more then one to his lot) are expected until Tuesday the 2nd as the truckers don't work today either.
Now I have been very calm and respectful this entire time but if what the last call told me was true it means the manager was lying POS.
This all has made my first new car buy experience rather negative and leaves a sour taste in my mouth, it makes me wonder if I should even buy a car from them, as I question if they will respect my warranty correctly or make lies to get me to go away.
I am just in a bad mood right now from all this and needed were to vent.
Yeah thats sucks man and I feel your pain. It probably has something to do with the recall. I had to deposit 1000 to order my blue xrs. They said it could be up to 140 days. And that was BEFORE the recall . If it makes you feel any better, at least you wont be waiting as long as me.
Not sure if it has anything to do with the recall, and I'm not sure how it is being handled there, but here in the states they can't even sell a Corolla before the recall repair has been processed. The new cars there in Mexico may be in some sort of holding lot until the recall has been processed (although I would think Toyota would want the car at the dealer so they could install the part).
No recall in Mexico, and I understand some of you are waiting for a long time, my problem was I was told 4-5 days and were at 3 times that, I would have preferred if they would have told me this from the get go and I would have bought a different car as I have no vehicle right now, and would be more then happy with a 1.8L Corolla that they do have in stock.
Oh, tough call for sure! On one hand you want and NEED a car, but on the other hand it would be nice to hold out for the XRS. Definitely a tough spot to be in. Either way you're a winner with a new Corolla though.
I thought they weren't even allowed to sell the cars involved in the recall right now...
That's in the US & Canada. The Corolla has no recall in Mexico as they must use a different pedal manufacturer.

Good luck to the OP. You will love it when it arrives.
I agree, it may be frustrating but I'm sure that the wait will be worth it.

But where do they make the Corolla that's sold in Mexico? IF it's the XRS model, then it can only come from two plants in North America (take your pick), both of which use the CTS supplied pedal. Anyway, I don't think it's a huge issue.
well actually, its not recalled here because there has yet to be no reported cases and Toyota feels that means there is no need to put out a recall.
So are they built in the US & Canada? Or are they from Japan?
