A throttle controller is supposed to decrease the lag time between the pressing of you pedal and the fuel actually reaching the engine.

The stock alternator is only rated at about 100 amps and a decent system or other larger electrical systems will suck that up and then some easily. This causes a lot of strain on the alternator and can be bad for other electric systems on the car. I plan on upgrading when I can afford. My sound system easily dims my headlights to almost nothing and if I am idling with my system up after a minute or two my car will start to idle rough. It also requires a 150amp fuse so it is sucking most of what the stock alternator is putting out.

ok i see. so having a throttle controller would actually have a better mpg than using the stock one.

sounds like having a higher output alternator would be a great addition to a great system
thanks.

No you will most likely loose mpg if you have a heavy foot. The lag helps to increase mpg because you are not accelerating as fast.

so if im understanding you correctly that means that as long as i dont smash on the car and drive normally, my car would show an increase in mpg compared to the stock one?

im just looking to improve the horsepower and torque while at the same time trying not to sacrifice that much of my mpg. i know people are going to say that mpg decreases the more horsepower and torque i do but im still gonna shoot for it.

...try that underdrive pulley in the 1.8l thread. It'll give you a few more horses and actually is supposed to increase fuel mileage.
