I wouldn't say it's abnormal. From what I can see, it seems to be mostly welded joints that are rusting. Welded joints rust earlier than other areas.
Your best bet is probably going to be sanding down the rust (using sand paper, you don't have to take off much at all) and applying some kind of protectant.
Most likely, if you take it to the dealer, they won't do anything about it. You can give it a shot, though.

But you need to make sure you remove the rust before you apply anything over it. If you just apply some kind of protectant, rust will still continue where it already is.

There is even a product that chemically converts rust to a hard substance that can be painted or sanded & it turns black & it works great! I think it's simply called a rust converter.

Yea, I have yet to use a product that converts rust, but if your not using a product that specifically states it converts rust (or something like that), you need to remove the rust.

If you just throw paint over rust, you won't be fixing anything, just covering up the rust underneath.

Very true, that's why I never said anything about just painting over the rust! You can either remove it or convert it which works well & can be easier than removing it sometimes. The benefit to converting it is were it is underneath the car. It will turn black & be a very tough surface that won't need to be painted if it turns black!

I was just re-emphasizing.
The need to remove (or convert) it is not understood by all.
My co-workers are usually more than happy to just throw oil over rust and call it good... (Ever work with idiots?)

No problem! And yes, I've worked with idiots every place I've been!

They often use a rust converter chemical on Wheeler Dealers - a British show about fixing up old cars into good looking daily drivers. I can't quite remember the form of the rust converter though (i,e, spray can, paint on, etc).

I also think naval jelly might get rid of rust, but it has been a long time since I used it.

I think rust warranties only cover the sheet metal body of the car and not underside.

Everyone more or less expects the underside of the car to get dirty and rusty, except for highly maintained exotic cars and show car restorations. If you want to keep the underside of the car clean, that is pretty dedicated and you have my respect.

I took a picture of my neighboors corolla, he only had the car over 2 months . It looks like rusting at the same spot as my corolla.

Take a trip to a dealer. Toyota, Dodge, Ford, take your pick. You'll most likely see some rust on certain underbody items.

This looks entirely normal. The muffler looks a tad concerning, but I can't say for sure.

Exhaust systems rust, and there is not mch than can prevent that. They can't generally paint them due to the temps, and to make matters worse, the heat accellerates the rusting process. They make the pipes from a thickness of steel that will yield a decent lifetime before it will structurally fall apart and need to be replaced.
Your mileage may vary.
Other than that the rest is surface rust.

This is all normal and should not be a cause for concern. That is, unless you are anal retentive, then you can convert the rust, or use a rust remover (which could be labor intensive) if it's early stage rust, and then paint.

In any case it must be completely treated or removed bofor applying paint as it will just bubble off in a year..

I love that show!
