my friend got a tc from the dealership a few years ago, with it he got a trd cold air intake and trd exhaust with it from the dealer. i couldnt help but notice that trd doesnt make either for our cars. im planning on getting an intake and/or exhaust soon, but im afraid of the warranty being void if i get some other brand. do you guys think that trd will make any of these for our cars? or is there any universal trd parts that will fit on our cars? or is there any out there but im too dumb to find it?

trd parts are basically re-branded parts made by other companies. as long as they are legal parts and aren't the cause of the problem, they cant void your warranty.
yeah but atleast trd has the name from toyota you know. i can easily go out and get an intake and when my car needs to go in for something i can take the intake out and put the oem one back in, but thats just a waste of my time and its something i just dont want to deal with. id rather just be safe.

i dont think something like a weapon r intake would void warranty. you could always ask the dealer first if you arent sure.
any brand intake will not void ur warranty. i have taken my car in for servicing with the injen CAI and they didnt say anything about it. intake is intake, trd or injen, its the same.
Since the market is small for the Corolla/Matrix, I don't think TRD could come up with a "Business case" for anymore parts other than the ones already on sale.
It wouldn't make financial sense for TRD to do the r&d for Corolla parts. The amount of people buying a Corolla to 'mod' is super slim. It would be a losing money venture, and that is obviously not why you go into business.
As for voiding the warranty for aftermarket parts, that is illegal under the magnusen moss act. The part has to be directly responsible for the issue to not be covered. This could affect you guys getting intakes as you are altering the position of the maf. Typically a tune is required for an intake as well as it needs to be scaled for the new housing. Without that being done, you have a higher risk of a lean condition and knock.

Whether you get a TRD or home-made intake, the dealer will still bitch and moan about it if you ever try to get warranty work done with that intake on.
