I think a blew a fuse...

today i was changing my dome light and i left the switch on by accident..

when i was trying to put it in it flickered a couple times and my Dome, Map, and Trunk light, and Keyless entry stopped working. I blew a fuse didnt i?

questions
1) Did i just blow a fuse, or is it worse?
2) How do i fix?

check your dome fuse prolly in the cluster under the hood if ya don't have a dome then just check them all to make shore, sounds like it's just a blown fuse. Check the ones under the drivers side dash too but if im not mistaking the dome fuse is under the hood but might have one in both aswell sorry been a long day. lol, but check fuses first

Yes you blew the fuse. It is located under the fuse box in the hood. Just go to the dealer or an auto parts store to get a replacement. It's very small but easy to replace. There is a special tool in the fuse box to pull out the bad fuse & to replace it with the new fuse. The fuse cover has the layout of the fuses so just locate the fuse labeled "dome" & you will be in business.

haha i did the same thing. i was trying out new leds for my trunk and i guess i put them in backwards and blew out all my lights except for parking, license, and headlights. everything else stopped working, my check engine light came on too. that was the worst day of my life. turns out i blew 2 fuses and paid 131 to run diagnostics and fix

This is easy to fix. I broke a fuse by doing something of the same thing.

First of all, yes you did break a fuse.

You can easily locate the fuse box right under the hood. Luckily the fuse box should include spares for you. Once you pop open the fuse box, look under the cover and it'll label all of the fuses for you. The one that is broken should be labeled as DOME (and it should be a red 10A). Just get some pliers, pull it out, check if it's broken. If it is, just pull another fuse out of the spare fuses and stick it in the DOME fuse. You can easily purchase another fuse from a Toyota dealership for like $1.40 a piece (you won't be able to get them anywhere else, I checked Kragen's Walmart OSH etc...)

or you could get 3 mini fuses for a buck at radioshack. it bulges out alittle but its covered by the box...no one could see.

Yes, under the hood on the driver's side. It is a black plastic rectangular box. Unsnap the lid & it shows you the layout of the fuses, find the one labeled "dome" & pull it out with the provided tool in the fuse box. I picked up one at Toyota for 50 cents. It's really very simple, you will see when you pop the top!
