Yep. I was at a drive thru, tapping my card on the door while waiting to pay, and it slipped out of my hand and down into the door (through the slit for the window). Any ideas how to get it out? I'm guessing I just need to remove the door panel, but I've never done that before and I'm not really sure how.

The inside panel can be easily removed, no worries. As suggested, do a search or look in the DIY thread above. My nine year old son broke the driver's side window two days after I purchased our car ... with a tennis racket and rock. Yes, he's still alive. I replaced the window myself, it was pretty straight forward.
Haha, yes, my girlfriend offered to pay. I'm sure I looked like quite the winner at that moment. I'll search for some DIY instructions, thanks for the advice!
I think the frustration of this situation is far outweighed by its hilarity.
The little cover behind the handle just pops out. Get a finger underneath it and pry outwards, or a screwdriver (but try not to lever it against the door panel or it will scratch it). Mine came flying off, and it wasn't exactly a delicate procedure. So its the screw in the door pull, the one behind the handle cover, and then you just get your fingers under the edges of the door panel, starting at the bottom. Once again, it isn't a delicate procedure. Those snaps hold on STRONG. If you can see the snaps (they should be white) you can put a flat head screw driver up to it and twist to help back the snap out. The only time I'd be particularly careful- make sure you are still in control so that when a snap releases you aren't going to yank the panel perpendicular to the door, thus cracking it. Other than that it should be pretty easy. You might even be able to get away with not taking off the whole panel, just lifting up the bottom and pulling back the plastic cover to retrieve the card, depending on where it is. Would save you some struggles trying to get the door handle out and the window module disconnected
Good story though, I laughed at your expense- or should I say your girlfriends...
You may want to cut the plastic just enough to get your hand inside the door and grab the card. Then re-tape it with duct tape. The black glue used to attach the plastic is messy and a pain in the rear to work with ...
