Hi. i am curious if there is a way (mechanical or electrical) to disable the auto fresh air with the HVAC system? Im referring to the recirculate/fresh air button, and how it wont let you recirculate the air when you have the vent selector on the defogger mode. Anybody have any advice? To me it feels like its a part of the knob itself that turns the recirc off.

I think its just something in the knob that turns off the recirculate. If it bothers you that much, you could probably take it apart and figure out what it is. Might just be a little plastic tab that you could break.
Personally, I dont see the big deal. Do you live in a big city or something with a lot of air pollution?

Its not a big deal really, more of an annoyance. I like having the control, not the car. Sometimes even if the fan is turned off, and the vent is on fresh air, if you are traveling at speed the air will still come through the vent.
You cannot push the recirc button with the vent selection on defog, that was the whole point of this thread.
In any case, it is a mechanical thing, not electrical, and it is within the switch. You'd need to disassemble the switch and somehow bypass the lockout.
Hmm.. you would think if the defroster worked better having recirculated air, that it would let you have it as an option. Being that it does not, I believe that having the defroster use air thats outside the car could make the defroster work better/more efficient. I don't really see the big deal anyway. I only turn the defroster on when the windows need defrosting, then I switch it back to normal.

Its not a big deal, like I said before. I dont like having hot air blowing on my face. Normally, if the heat is on in the car, it is either blowing just at my feet or on my feet/defroster. Ill be taking the switch apart soon to see if I cant figure it out.
