Trunk Lid Plugs?

Hey guys. Had the car for almost 2 years before I noticed this. With my trunk open, right beside the latch, there are rubber plugs going across. It looks like theres supposed to be 4 of these plugs. The last hole on the right is empty. Hole looks smaller than the other 3 plugs. Question is what are these plugs for and would my dealer put one in almost 2 years later? Can't believe I never noticed it before but it was a small detail. Is there a chance the last hole is supposed to be plug free? Thanks.

Any chance it could be used for any amount of water drainage?

Just looked at some pics of other corollas online with their trunks open and it is supposed to be there, 4 plugs. I guess I'll live with 3.

just called the dealer and they said they would order one in and cover it under warranty. He said there is supposed to be 4. Everyone check your trunk lid stoppers, lol.

Yes those are it. Not something you would easily notice. Can't believe that happened at the factory, same person is probably putting all 4 in. Must have got distracted. Any idea what these are for?

It's to protect the trunk lid from making contact with the car's body when closing it. It's a rubber stop, more or less. It's possible that one could have fallen off since you've had the car. Looks like they simply pop in place ...

I thought you were referring to the smaller holes closer to the edge of the lid.

This is why I recommended pictures

Glad to hear you've solved the puzzle though, and that they'll give you 1 for free!

I'm just glad I noticed it and that I don't have trunk damage because of a lack of stoppers.
