Dynolicious App Help

So I just got dyno Lucious, and for the most part it seems ok, it just varies a lot between numbers, I saw a Lot of people have good solid results but I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I went to best buy and got a legit window mount, it's very sturdy and ridgid, and clips onto the iPhone. I put Some padding down to help with vibration(that changed the runs a lot, the mini vibrations throw off everything) and I have a couple flat spots that I can do a run at(ones next to a golf course and is practically deserted, it's perfect) with all that said an done I still had results that varied from 99-130. Psi changed it a bit, my tires were at a low 32, boosted them to my normal 40-42 and it increased about .8 seconds and 4 hp haha, but after 8 runs my average was 124 at the wheels. Considering my upgrades i'm not to upset with that, I wish I had gotten it before I did my mods, Maybe I can convince the Toyota dealership to let me test drive one of the corollas and do a run . That'd be cool to get a manual as well and laydown a baseline to see the powerloss difference. But anyways, any tips to help me get more solid results?

Here is what I've found while doing runs...

1) The app was designed for a 1/4 Mile Race Track, so regular roads, even though they seem flat, are not as flat as a real drag strip, so results will vary quite a bit each run.

2) Make sure you are accurate with the weight of your car. Make sure you do all your runs with roughly the same amount of fuel each time, and same amount of passengers. Remember that 1 Liter of Gas weights 0.76Kg. So if you are running on a Full Tank, add 39.52Kg to the total weight of the car, plus the driver, and any other items in your trunk.

3) Window mounts still vibrate like hell, actually all mounts do. I use a Dash Mount, and it is pretty secure, but i've used foam aswell to reduce jiggle and spikes in HP from the vibration

4) Do what you're doing and base your runs on an average, and not 2 or 3 runs. Do 8-10 to get the most accurate average.

5) If you just want to measure HP, don't gun it from the start, gradually accelerate and get to 3rd gear before you go full open throttle. But for 1/4 Mi run times, go nuts on launches.

just my two cents.

thanks I noticed the hp thing that when I didn't launch off I got higher readings, which makes more sense., what is your average for your xrs?

I originally had mine set up to do crank power, but i'm going to change that and do some more runs for WHP.

anyway...

crank average with Intake & Cat-Back is 172hp.

I will be doing some more runs after this next wave of rain goes away.

But based on a basic guess of drive train loss, I am guessing 135-140 at the wheels.

Damn that's a lot of drivetrain loss, I don't think it's that high, but all around , I love the xrs, I didn't know it was all that special when I ordered my s, plus options were still limited in 08, if I would have redone I would have gotten an xrs, almost had a chance to, Toyota was having a "make a deal" promotion where they get you into a newer car for the same or cheaper monthly payment, I had my eyes on a blue streak xrs with the 5manumatic for 60 bucks cheaper per month, it was so amazing and torquey. But when it came down to it I would have been loosing all the money I had put into my car that I'd put all my money into already, so I told them no thanks, I don't want to spend 30000 dollars on a corolla and a half. Anyways, if you want to find out your whp on dynolicious, just put 0 for the power loss and the runs you already did will change over to whp.

I don't know the exact drive-train losss, but normally it is around 20-25% if my memory serves me right.

But i know you're feeling about the XRS, I almost got an S in april 2008, but my cousin who was the salesman gave me a better deal for an xrs so i grabbed the Magnetic Grey one like on the Brochure

Someone that did a dyno on the s reported about a 16-18% loss and it showed about that on the dyno sheet
