Dealership valet driving cars hard

Hey guys. I was at the dealership yesterday just picking up a part and while waiting, I saw one of the service valet kids pulling a car out of the garage and not coming to a stop before shifting in reverse. The car was an automatic. I felt like telling someone about this as he must do this all the time. I feel sorry for the owner of the new Matrix. The car made a nasty noise when this happened. Should I have told the service manager and or owner of the car? It's still not too late to report this kid. Whats your thoughts?

I would for sure, lots of dealerships have people who abuse cars. One day after i got my last car back from the dealer i had suspected it was taken for a joy ride by someone at the dealer, and sure enough the clutch went out that day, it only had 50k on it. So i would def say something, cause sometimes the manager might not even be aware of it.

I would absolutely make sure that a manager knows about that. It could be your car next time.

Canada Hypermilers last longer

This is reason #17 why I don't take my car in to the stealerships and do all the work that I can myself.

+1

That being said I would let the dealer know asap. It's a no brainer to know that the right thing to do would be to report the abuse. I can promise you that the service manager would not be happy.

I felt so bad for any customers he was doing an oil change for...

This is the reason why I'm buying oil change tools. After reading this now I think I'll invest in some tools and a mechanic's training class over the summer (I don't know jack s**t about cars).

Yes I am aware that the following is a slightly ignorant statement, but... WOW do I hate people sometimes!

guy friends or uncles or some sorta family member is the way to go lol

I'd feel bad if you took an 800 dollar course to learn how to change oil, rotate tires and all the small stuff lol

I'd shoot myself if I have to do a course just to do oil changes.

Sadly I don't have "handy" relatives or friends. Some of them can't even change their air filters (they are still driving w/ factory filter after >50k miles). I can find most DIY things online like brake replacement, Wheel alignment, suspension etc., but I still have to know the terminology, techniques and what sort of tools to buy. i mean how many and what kind of tools and how to properly use them without breaking my cars and my body. I have basic mechanic's tool set and I've used it many times on my junk 1991 Camry and vintage Vespa.

Edit: To the OP, did you call up the service manager yet?

I would definitely tell the service manager. I know since we don't have a valet service and have to bring the cars in ourselves that kind of thing isn't tolerated. Its pretty simple, you don't drive your own car like that so why would you drive someone elses that way.

eh... if an employee(specifically mechanic) mistreats your car by driving it hard, sometimes service managers just have that same kind of mentality... I've been to some dealerships and they just mistreat the hell out of you because they're not nice in general :\
