Does anyone know if it would be possible or easy to upgrade the wiper control in the S to the variable int. wipers in some other models? I tried doing a search but I didn't see this subject ever being brought up.
Any thoughts Jeff?

What does the variable wipers do differently anyway? Is it rain sensing? lol
for $200 I wish it was!
It means you can set the wipers to be a shorter/longer delay versus the intermittent/slow/fast that we have now. So on those annoying days when its not raining enough to use the intermittent setting, yet raining too much to just hit the stalk every once n a while, you can set it to a long delay.
Offhand, do you happen to know what car models would have come with the appropriate stalk? I'm thinking perhaps a junkyard might have some used ones we could pick up.
$115 plus some shipping I'm sure. There is one from a Tacoma on eBay for $125
If we could come up with some installation instructions (and provided they don't look too difficult) , I'll probably jump on this and do a DIY for it as well.

I was very surprised this wasn't one of the standard features. My '98 Camry had it and I miss it. El Nino is rubbing it in my face...
in canada there are 4 model trims for the 10th gen corolla. the CE (which is the base model), LE, S and XRS. i think only the CE doesnt have that feature as i was told by a toyota salesman way back in March 2008 when my wife and i were shopping for a new car. i could be wrong though.
