Hello, I am an owner of a new 2010 LE corolla and I read in the owners manual that you can "customize" some options but only with the help of your toyota dealer

luckily, I was able to have my dealer (free of charge) silence the "beep" that occurs whenever I press the lock, unlock and trunk release on the remote! So maybe if any of you have the same frustration I had with neighbors complaining about the beeping, you can have this turned off at your dealer (for free, but no guarantee).

personally i like the beep. it sorta tells me that i locked my car as i am walking away

^agreed, screw the neighbors.
With fire trucks and cop cars and abulance's going off all night long with car alarms in some areas, a little beep is petty of the neighbors to whine about.

True, but the lights flash to tell you the car is locked as well, as long as you are looking at it while walking away. hehe

If you have neighbors that complain about you locking your car, you have other more important problems to deal with.

Good info, man. I get annoyed by the beeps sometimes. If it gets to the point that I can't stand it anymore, I'm glad there's an option to turn it off!

The beep isn't that loud to annoy anyone. I'm not always looking at the lights but I like to hear the beep for a certain confirmation.

I like the remote lock pattern of my son's 2010 Civic better.
When press the LOCK first time, the car is locked with light but no sound.
When press the LOCK the second time, the car will give both light and sound to tell you that the car has been already locked.
