is this posible?

I hate the corolla brakes in the back. Can I just swap out the drums for the xrs discs?

First off, you hate it because of its performance or look? You do know 75% of the braking is done on the front brake, right? If you really up to a point that u hate it, you should of got the XRS in the first place. Swapping out the drum for disc is pricy but do able.

Don't think it is worthwhile to do such upgading. This will void the warranty.

This will not void the warranty unless there is something wrong and you bring it to the dealership and ask them to fix it under warranty and the dealer can prove the modification you made has direct cause towards the damage, it is under the law.

XRS question...

(Via Jeff Lange)

"Here's a list of parts you'll need. I may be forgetting something.

Rear Axle Beam (42101-02200)
Axle Beam Bushings (48725-02250 x 2)
Rear Brake Hoses (90947-A2023 x 2)
Rear Brake Hose Banjo Bolts (90401-10058 x 2)
Rear Brake Hose Banjo Bolt Gaskets (47389-50020 x 2)
Rear Brake Hose Mounting Bolts (90119-A0081 x 2)
Rear Parking Brake Cables (46420-02150, 46430-02150, 47658-12010 x 2)
Rear Parking Brake Cable Mounting Bolts (90119-A0142 x 2)
Rear Brake Backing Plates (47803-02020, 47804-02020)
Rear Brake Calipers (47830-02180, 47850-02180)
Rear Brake Caliper Slider Pins (47835-02160 x 4)
Rear Brake Caliper Slider Pin Mounting Bolts (90016-AA104 x 4)
Rear Brake Caliper Mounts (47821-02160 x 2)
Rear Brake Caliper Mount Mounting Bolts (90105-10510 x 4)
Rear Brake Pads (04466-02210)
Rear Brake Pad Shims (04946-02050)
Rear Brake Pad Hardware Kit (04948-02101)
Rear Brake Caliper Overhaul Kit (04479-02330) -- May not be needed, but it includes slider boots, which may be needed. Not sure if the caliper includes them.
Rear Brake Rotors (42431-02200 x 2)

The rear hubs are the same, the master cylinder shouldn't be any issue, the only difference is with or without VSC, the diameters are the same whether it has rear disc brakes or not (20.64 without VSC, 22.22 with VSC).

I spent quite some time coming up with that list... but it might be missing something, nothing major though."

is it really doable? has someone done it yet? were there issues with the ECM? i dont think somebody was able to do it yet as of today.

i am willing to spend money on that modification only if it has no issues at all. i dont want to spend so much money only to put back the car to drum brakes again.

I have looked into it in detail, and it isn't worth it unless you are tracking your car, have all the other bells and whistles, and find that your brakes are holding you back. Of course, Way before this point, you bought the wrong car to begin with. Parts are about 1500-1700 and that really took some searching around. Then you would have to factor in labor. I would have done the install myself though. what it came down to for me is this, as soon as my parts list came to $1000 I was thinking, screw this, Id get way more performance and looks with a nice set of PF01's or ultraleggera's. Honestly, you should come to the same conclusion.
